The Coshocton Art Prize will be given in conjunction with 2016 Coshocton ARTS HOMECOMING plus — celebrating the ways
our small town life is enhanced by the arts here and by our creative friends and family who live “outside.”
The competition is open to any person 16 or older who has a connection to Coshocton County – such as having lived or worked here
at any time or has been invited by someone who does.

The Coshocton Art Prize will be given in conjunction with 2016 Coshocton ARTS HOMECOMING

Detailed Terms: 1. Any form of art is acceptable with the proviso that the work be presented professionally and be
portable and suitable for public display either at the Pomerene Center for the Arts in Coshocton,
Ohio or outdoors in the artPark on Main Street in Coshocton, Ohio. All indoor wall art must be
fitted with D-rings or screw eyes and ready to hang. Questions concerning size should be

2. The works may be traditional forms or novel forms, abstract, classical or commercial; no topic
restrictions or requirements; an artist may submit up to three works.
3. Prizes will be awarded to artists for the body of work (1-3 pieces) entered. Please note, 1 piece is
no less competitive than 3. The work will be judged according to the following criterea:
Technique. There is technical competence or sophistication in this work. Originality. There is
something new here in content and the way it’s being expressed. Resonance. This work has the
power to evoke feeling.
4. Juror Doug McGlumphy will select the top seven contenders and the 1st and 2nd prizes. A vote
by the public will take place through the duration of the exhibit and will determine the People’s
Choice prize from the top seven. All decisions are final. Doug McGlumphy received his BA from
Washington and Jefferson College, Washington, PA, and his MFA from Indiana University of
Pennsylvania, Indiana, PA.He is the Director of Washington and Jefferson's Olin Fine Art Gallery,
where he also teaches design, drawing, and sculpture. Additionally, McGlumphy is Preparator and
Collections Manager at the College of Wooster Art Museum. He and his wife Jenn own and operate
Hisrich Hills House Bed and Breakfast and ArtFarm, Stone Creek, OH.
5. Submitter must have created the artwork in 2015 or 2016 and should either own the work or
obtain written permission from the owner consigning rights to the Pomerene Center for the Arts
to publish photographs (physical or electronic) in connection with the prize at any time. Names of winners will be announced publically.
6. Work will remain on exhibit for the entirety of the show through Friday September 23. Artists
are responsible for retrieving their work 9am-5pm Saturday, September 24 or 1-5pm Monday
September 26. Work to be returned by post will be repacked and sent the week of September 26
in the original prepaid shipping container.
7. There are no entry fees.
8. Insurance – artists are responsible for insuring their own work.
9. Shipping – shipping costs (including return shipping) are the responsibility of the artist.
10. Sales – Work submitted can be, but is not required to be, for sale. The Pomerene Center will
retain a 20% commission for any works sold.
