Sub: Distinguished Alumnus Award for 2016
Dear Alumnus/ Colleague,
The Alumni constitute an important pillar of an institute of higher learning. It is through them that an
institute reaches out to the public. They serve as brand ambassadors who carry forward and
propagate spread the message of their alma mater. Alumni of NIT Rourkela have excelled in
almost every walk of life–industry, academia, research, social and public life. The Institute
appreciates the glory they have brought to their alma mater. To recognize the alumni’s
achievement and contribution to the society, the Board of Governors; vide its Resolution No BOG22(2009)-18 dated September 18, 2009 has instituted the “Distinguished Alumnus Award”. This
prestigious award is being presented during the convocation ceremony every year. In convocation,
we expect selected distinguished alumni to receive the award in person from the Chief Guest.
The Distinguished Alumnus Award is given to alumni who have excelled in their chosen
areas of work. The following categories are identified for the purpose of Distinguished Alumnus
Award.
