The Suffering of Muslims in Europe: Is History Repeating Itself?
(Translated)
Not a day passes by on Muslims in Europe, without an incident happening that renews their
concern for their fate raising their fear of the dark future that awaits them in living within a
European society and system with their main concern actively harassing the Muslims by
observing their behavior and actions that demonstrate their commitment to the provisions of
their religion, rather the matter developed to monitoring their thoughts and feelings.
In France, Nicole Goueta, Mayor of Colombes, on the outskirts of Paris intervened in order
to compel a shop run by a Muslim to sell pork and alcohol, and wants to close the shop if he
does not abide by her decision. Thus, a Muslim becomes forced to sell what is forbidden by his
religion and is bound by virtue of the law of the State that falsely claims to be a pioneer of
freedom, human rights and tolerance!
In Belgium, a man in Charleroi region attacked and wounded two policewomen with a knife
in a police station, who then was shot dead by police. The authorities immediately without any
investigation stated in the words of Prime Minister that the attack was most likely a terrorist one;
only because the man shouted "Allahu Akbar". Lately this has been repeated frequently; where
the Takbeer was considered an evidence that reveals what they termed as "Islamic terrorism."
And thus a Muslim has become anxious of the "Takbeer", which is a phrase often used by all
Muslims, committed or non-committed. Even parents are now warning their children from using
the words "Allahu akbar" in fear that they are shot under the pretext of "terrorism."
In the Netherlands, a court in eastern Brabant (Oost-Brabant) decided that the legitimate
Islamic marriage detract the value of women and considered it a kind of discrimination between
men and women; only because a man refused to legitimately divorce his wife unless she
returns to him the dowry and gold that he gave her as a gift. Thus, a legitimate Muslim marriage
has become compromising in the Netherlands; because it conflicts - according to the court's
decision - with the Dutch Constitution that institutes gender equality. And it is not unexpected
that in the future it will be prevented and those who practice it will be criminalized.
This news and the various sporadic incidents indicate the magnitude of the suffering
experienced by Muslims in Europe; as all Muslims’ conducts rouse suspicion and criticism, even
uttering of "Allahu Akbar". And all concepts of Islam and its provisions, whether attached to the
belief or worship or transactions, came under scrutiny of the Western law, which impeaches
them and criminalizes them without regard to the claims of freedom and tolerance, and without
taking into account the right of Muslims in practicing religion according to their own religion.
Hence, we ask - again: Does history repeat itself, and will the tragedy of Andalusia repeat?
