off of the UPS without a transformer and feed it directly to the
IT load, which can usually take
between 100 and 250 volts,” he
says. In fact it takes less conductor material to run a higher
voltage—plus the system runs
more efficiently than standard
120/208 three phase.
By omitting multiple isolation transformers required in the
480V and 600V systems, you
can effectively lower capital
expenditures and enable your
system to perform more reliably. So in the simplest terms,
transformerless power lets you
operate a 400V data center.
