Girl Scout Cookie Sale Fact Sheet 2017

Girl Scout Cookie Sale Fact Sheet 2017
2017 Cookie Sale: January 1 – March 31
Powered by the Girl Scout Cookie Program
Ready for Cookies? Buying Girl Scout cookies is more than just
handing over $4.00 for a box. It’s about the skills and learning a
girl gains from interacting directly with you. It’s about the
experience of running her own cookie business and working with
others. Your purchase means you get tasty cookies—and a girl
learns a lifetime of skills.
When girls participate in the cookie program, they are exposed to
unique experiences and learn essential life skills. Plus their
confidence soars, and the leader in them begins to step up in
powerful, everyday ways—when she raises her hand to speak up,
when she says “yes” to a challenge, or when she finds the silver
lining in a bad day. Your Girl Scout Cookie purchase helps make
it all possible. Find your cookies at girlscoutcookies.org.
100th Anniversary of Girl Scouts Selling Cookies
Well before Girl Scout Cookies were produced by licensed bakers to sell
nationally, Girl Scouts baked and sold cookies on their own. Our girls were
entrepreneurs going as far back as 1917! In 2017, we celebrate the 100th
anniversary of the first known instance of Girl Scouts selling cookies and
learning the basic skills and acumen they need to be leaders in business and
sales, manage their personal and family finances, and gain self-sufficiency and
confidence handling money.
NEW COOKIE: Girl Scout S'mores Cookies
We’re celebrating 100 years of Girl Scouts selling cookies by
introducing new Girl Scout S’mores cookies. That’s right! We’re
combining two iconic Girl Scout traditions—s’mores and Girl Scout
Cookies! Joining legendary classics like Thin Mints and Caramel
deLites/Samoas, the new Girl Scout S’mores cookies will be sold in
Virginia Skyline Council this cookie sale season. Our new crispy
graham cookie double dipped in yummy crème icing and finished
with a scrumptious chocolatey coating (WHOA!) is one more
delicious way to support her next adventure!
National Girl Scout Cookie Weekend 2017
Friday, Feb. 24 - Sunday, Feb. 26
On this weekend, Girl Scouts across the nation will band together to speak
as a single, powerful voice to raise awareness of the Girl Scout Cookie
Program and its five business skills to success: goal setting, decision
making, money management, working with people, and business ethics. This
weekend includes lots of booth selling locations for the cookie sale.
