REGULAR WORSHIP SERVICE…………........ (Holy Communion: 1st & 3rd Sundays) 9:00 AM 9:00 AM 10:00 AM 10:30 AM Pastor’s Page WHAT IS THIS FAITH JOURNEY ALL ABOUT? DOES IT MAKE A DIFFERENCE? IT DOES! There always seems to be questions and answers when thinking about God, faith and the very meaning of life. I write today to people who have embarked on the faith journey. We have been doing it together as a group we call the congregation. Some of us gather every Sunday at worship. Some of us are there less often. Some almost never make it into the building but all of us, together, we are the church. We are those who God has spoken to in one way or another. We have been privileged to stand in the presence of the Sacred and the Holy. We have had the opportunity to have the Creator look at our broken lives and tell us that He loves us no matter what. Faith is about a process that restores the soul, renews the spirit and gives the breath of life to us every day no matter what is going on. The Lord is not one who has come to bring fear into our lives but to throw it out. He forgives us rather than judges us, He sets us free to be authentic people through the actions of His son Jesus. The psalmist describes how this feels in the Message version of Psalm 19: 20-24 God made my life complete when I placed all the pieces before Him. When I got my act together, He gave me a fresh start. Now I’m alert to God’s ways; I don’t take God for granted. Every day I review the ways He works; I try not to miss a trick. I feel put back together, and I’m watching my step. God rewrote the text of my life when I opened the book of my heart to His eyes. People on the journey of faith are on a different path. We are restored to the beings that God wants us to be. We are certainly flawed but having God in our lives does make a difference. We experience the journey with God by our side. If we are looking for something to do, we can take the first verse seriously and “place all the pieces before Him.” This reminds me of the TV show, “Rick’s Restorations”. He takes all the broken pieces of worn out objects, cleans them us, refinishes them and makes them better than new. So it is with God who restores you and me and makes us His own. The difference this journey makes is that “I feel put back together”. Thanks for sharing the journey with me. Along the Way, Pastor Niel PASTOR’S BIBLE STUDY ~ Beginning on Monday, September 15th. Pastor’s Bible Study will meet in the Conference Room by the Church Office every 1 st and 3rd Monday of the month. Sign up on the bulletin board if you are interested in attending. Everyone is welcome. Pantry Ponderings – It is nearing the fall season. The days are getting shorter, kids are headed back to school and people are asking about the Day of Giving. I don’t know about you, but where did the summer go? I know it has been warm and sunny because I can tell by the amount of times I’ve needed to water my garden, which has truly been abundant this summer as compared to years past. I think it is because we finally took the time to tend to it early and prepare for the growing season. My husband put a lovely fence around to keep the deer out and tilled it several times to prepare the soil. We now have enjoyed many green beans, snap peas, tomatoes, peppers and cucumbers. I am reminded of the song “Prepare the Way of the Lord” by Jeremy Riddle. It says: “Make straight paths for His feet, Clear a way in the streets, Prepare your hearts to meet the One who is coming. Every valley shall be raised, the rough places become plains, His salvation comes today, to those who would receive Him, yeah. Prepare ye the way of the Lord” I think of that now as I prepare for my first time with the Day of Giving. It takes much time to get everything just right for the Day. Volunteers are needed to help fill and distribute the bags. Donations of food, coats and more are needed. I am sure there is more to do to prepare for the day and I will learn that as I go along. I would like to take this opportunity to say thank you to all the food pantry volunteers. It has been wonderful working with all of you. Your dedication is inspiring. A special thank you to Lou Wentzler for his unwavering spirit. He is always ready to lend a hand even when we had a delivery of 100 bags of 10lbs of potatoes. He was quick with a joke and always smiling. He made sure that each client or visitor went out the door with a bag or two or more. You are an inspiration to me and others and I thank God for you everyday. I pray that God will continue to guide us as we prepare the way for our Day of Giving. I pray for His strength to not only to lift the bags but to lift the spirits of those we help. I thank God for the people he has placed in my life. I am Living in Faith, Barbara Some things to keep in mind: - Our annual Crop Walk will be on Sunday October 19th. Sign-up sheet is on the bulletin board Day of Giving will be Monday November 24th.
