Normal Knee
Osteoarthritis Knee
“The above pictures show a normal knee joint and an Osteoarthritic knee. The standing
radiograph of the osteoarthritic knee reveals narrowing of the medial (
) and lateral
(
) femorotibial compartments with marginal osteophytes “
“There are usually no systemic manifestations of OA therefore laboratory tests are usually
normal. Radiologic evaluation may corroborate the diagnosis of OA. It is not uncommon to
have a normal x-ray in early mild disease”
