The Death Knell for Judicial Independence in Turkey:
The Recent Judicial Crisis

The panel of three experts on Turkey, will explore the background of judicial
independence in Turkey which, in the modern state, had been integrally tied to
traditional democratic values and clear separation of religion and the secular
state. The events of July 2016, involving the dismissal and arrest of thousands
of Turkish judges will be discussed in terms of far more wide-ranging threats to
judicial independence throughout the world.
