1 995
• The AHG oath was written:
I promise to love God,
cherish my family,
honor my country,
and serve in my community.
• The first AHG Troop is formed in
West Chester, Ohio and given the
number 895.
2008
• AHG begins its official relationship
with Operation Christmas Child
(OCC), encouraging Troops to bring
joy and hope to children around the
world through gift-filled shoeboxes
and the Good News of God’s love.
2009
• AHG introduces its Sports Pin
Program to encourage life long

• The first Troop outside of Cincinnati
is formed.
• Girls design the AHG Uniform.
• The Leader Resource Guide is
developed.
• The first Multi-level Badges are
developed.
• The first Level Awards are created.

• AHG’s first office space is donated.
• The AHG Creed is written:
As an American Heritage Girl, I
promise to be compassionate,
helpful, honest, loyal, perseverant,
pure, resourceful, respectful,
responsible and reverent.
• The Honor Troop Award is
developed.

• AHG receives its first Catholic
Bishop endorsement.
• The Kelly Beerman Girl Leadership
Institute is established to provide
girls with leadership training and
experience.
1998
• AHG’s highest honor, the Stars and
Stripes Award, is developed.
1999
• AHG is able to hire its first paid
staff members.
• The Charter concept for Troop
creation is adopted.
2 012
• AHG’s National Day of Service is
instituted to provide a time for Troops
across the country to join together
in living out the AHG Oath in their
communities.
• AHG begins working with Frieda B
to provide program resources, which
help each girl embrace her unique
God-given identity.
2 000
• Patriot Level Award, the Dolley
Madison, is created.
2 004
• The Pathfinder program, for
kindergarten-aged girls, is
introduced.
• AHG welcomes its first Troop in
Alaska.
• National expansion of the ministry
begins, as Troops are chartered
outside of Ohio.
• The Joining Award is developed.
• Troop Structure is defined.
• The Girl Handbook moves from
3-ring binders to the first bound
edition.
2 013
• AHG celebrates its 100th Stars &
Stripes recipient.
• AHG registration materials are
translated into Spanish, in an effort
to meet the needs of families across
the country seeking a Christcentered program for their girls.

• AHG celebrates with its 20th
Anniversary Convention, where
12 new badges were introduced,
bringing the total to 273.
• AHG signs Memorandum of
Ministry Alliance with Trail Life USA.
• AHG Members work with OCC to
pack 27,739 shoeboxes for children
in need across the globe!
