Touch… The cowboy… - Waverley Park School

Vol 03/12
Friday 17 February 2012
Kia ora tatou.
Our first five-day week for the year and the kids are
well-settled into the groove of school life. Preparations
for touch, cricket, athletics, the Wai-Tri, and camp
abound. It is timely to remember to send your kids to
school sun-proofed. Sun block and sunhats are the two
main items of sun defence.
The school sunhats are heavily subsidised by the
Waverley Park Parents Association … the cost to you is a
mere $5.00 per sun-proof lid – please make sure your
kids are protected.
The meeting moved!
Due to date clashes for members of the Board of
Trustees; first meeting for 2012 will now take place
7.30pm in the staffroom on Monday 27 February. As
always, you are most welcome to attend.
No golfing…
Please obey the signs – no golfing in the school
grounds. It’s a safety thing: divots are an ankle spraining
hazard – especially the ones that were left on the running
track; and golf balls and windows are not a good
combination either; especially when ‘discovered’ by the
contractor’s mower … thankfully, it was late in the day…
Cricket…
The Waverley Wanderers return to the fray tonight:
5.00pm playing Tisbury at Appleby. “Thanks” to the
parents looking after the kids tonight.
Four dads and a nana were volunteered as likely (and
“willing”) supervisors; either having played or “knows
about” cricket… excellent!
Bank account …
The school’s bank account number is:
12 3154 0103559 00
Feel free to make use of it to set up payments for camp
etc. Please put YR6 CAMP in the reference line. Thanks.

The cowboy…
The cowboy rides into town and stops at a saloon for a
drink. He finishes his drink and goes out to find his horse
stolen.
Going back inside, casually tosses his gun into the air,
catches it above his head and, without looking, fires a
shot into the ceiling.
“Now,” he drawls, “…which wunna you sidewinders stole
mah hoss?” No one answers.
He sips another drink, saunters outside, and his horse is
back. He swings into the saddle and gets ready to ride
out of town. Just as he turns to go, the barkeep wanders
out and asks, “Say pardner, before y’go … um … what
happened in Texas?”
The cowboy turns, grins, and spits: “Son - Ah had to walk
home…”
Until next week, ka kite.

If you can start the day without caffeine;
If you can always be cheerful, ignoring aches and pains;
If you can resist complaining and boring people with your
troubles;
If you can eat the same food every day and be grateful
for it;
If you can understand when your loved ones are too busy
to give you any time, If you can take criticism and blame
without resentment;
If you can conquer tension without medical help, If you
can relax without alcohol;
If you can sleep without the aid of drugs ...then you are
probably the family dog!
