1 – Once in Royal David’s City
Once in royal David’s city,
Stood a lowly cattle shed,
Where a mother laid her Baby,
In a manger for His bed:
Mary was that mother mild,
Jesus Christ, her little Child.
He came down to earth from heaven,
Who is God and Lord of all,
And His shelter was a stable,
And His cradle was a stall:
With the poor, and mean, and lowly,
Lived on earth our Saviour holy.
For He is our childhood's pattern;
Day by day, like us, He grew;
He was little, weak, and helpless,
Tears and smiles, like us He knew;
And He cares when we are sad,
And he shares when we are glad.
And our eyes at last shall see Him,
Through His own redeeming love;
For that Child so dear and gentle,
Is our Lord in heaven above:
And He leads His children on,
To the place where He is gone.
2 – He’s coming soon!
He’s coming soon, he’s on his way,
We need to go and go straight’way!
The Lord of hosts is born today.
I want the world to hear me say,
I’ll be the mum of God’s own son.
Oh blessed one, it’s time to come.
We need to leave and leave real soon,
With Beth’lhem full I want a room!
This is our precious baby boy,
I want the world to jump for joy.
The heav’ns will ring, the angels sing,
The shepherds come, Kings one by one.
Hey Joseph this is it, we’ll love him ev’ry bit,
The people will soon see, he’s come to set us free!
He’s coming soon, he’s on his way,
We have to go and go today.
The bags are packed, the route’s been planned.
The donkey’ll go at my command.
You’ll be just fine, the star will shine,
And when he’s born, we’ll keep him warm.
The journey’s long, it will take time.
You’ll know we’re there, the bells will chime.
And when he’s born the world will know
Just how his love will overflow.
The heav’ns will ring, the angels sing,
The shepherds come, Kings one by one.
He’s coming soon, he’s on his way!
3 – The Donkey’s Legs
The Donkey carried Mary
on the road to Bethlehem,
His legs were tired and weary,
all he could think was
did he have to walk home again!
And when they finally got there,
was there any room to stay?
Not really what they wanted.
This made donkey’s day!
Ee-aw! Snore! Snore! went the donkey,
Legs so weary, eyes quite bleary.
Ee-aw! Snore! Snore! went the donkey,
Carried Mary all the way.
They gave an empty stable,
nothing there but straw and hay.
This was to be the place where
Mary would give birth to Jesus on Christmas Day.
And all the world would get
on bended knee to worship him.
His birth foretold by prophets,
he would be our King.
Ee-aw! Snore! Snore! went the donkey,
Legs so weary, eyes quite bleary.
Ee-aw! Snore! Snore! went the donkey,
Carried Mary all the way.
The Donkey carried Mary
on the road to Bethlehem,
His legs were tired and weary,
all he could think was
did he have to walk home again!
And when they finally got there,
was there any room to stay?
Not really what they wanted.
This made donkey’s day!
Ee-aw! Snore! Snore! went the donkey,
Legs so weary, eyes quite bleary.
Ee-aw! Snore! Snore! went the donkey,
Carried Mary all the way.
4 - O little town of Bethlehem
O little town of Bethlehem,
How still we see thee lie!
Above thy deep and dreamless sleep
The silent stars go by.
Yet in the dark streets shineth
The everlasting light;
The hopes and fears of all the years
Are met in thee tonight..
For Christ is born of Mary;
And, gathered all above,
While mortals sleep, the angels keep
Their watch of wond‘ring love
Oh morning stars, together
Proclaim the holy birth,
And praises sing to God the King,
And peace to men on earth;
How silently, how silently,
The wonderous gift is giv’n!
So God imparts to human hearts
The blessings of his heav’n.
No ear may hear his coming;
But in this world of sin,
Where meek souls will receive him, still
The dear Christ enters in.
Where children pure and happy,
Pray to the blessed child.
Where misery cries out to thee
Son of the Mother Mild.
Where charity stands watching,
And faith holds wide the door.
The dark night wakes, the glory breaks,
And Christmas comes once more.
5 – What must we remember
What must we remember,
when the snow begins to fall?
All those without;
no voices to shout.
God knows them all,
He won’t let them fall.
What must we remember?
Jesus born!
When the night draws closer
and the wind begins to blow.
No place to keep warm,
nobody at home.
Please say a prayer
And offer some care.
What must we remember?
Jesus born!
6 – Whatcha Gonna Do?
She sat thinking today would be another normal day.
When at once there an angel stood with something big to say.
My dear Mary you’re gonna have a precious baby
(Whispered) Whatcha gonna do? Whatcha gonna do, Mary?
He stood working when Mary came and changed his life for good.
And then dreaming an Angel told him that he really would
be the father of God’s own son, the Holy Jesus.
(Whispered) Whatcha gonna do? Whatcha gonna do, Joseph?
Questions? Choices! What should we do?
Holy Spirit help us, hear us this day!
They sat watching the sleepy sheepy lying in the field.
The poor shepherds had no idea what would be revealed!
When at once all the sky was lit with Angels singing …
(Whispered) Whatcha gonna do? Whatcha gonna do, Shepherds?
They were watching the night sky when a star shone in the east.
The three Wise Men excited were distracted from their feast.
The King Herod, he asked them to go find the baby.
(Whispered) Whatcha gonna do? Whatcha gonna do, Wise Men?
Travel, worship Jesus the King.
Offer gold, myrrh, frankincense for the child.
(Whispered) Whatcha gonna do?
Whatcha gonna do, ev’rybody?
Joseph,
Whatcha gonna do?
Mary,
Whatcha gonna do?
Shepherds and Wise Men
Whatcha gonna do?
God chose you,
That’s what you’ll do?
Called you,
That’s what you’ll do?
Worship the Lord!
That’s what you’ll do.
Praise the Lord!
7 – Away in a Manger
Away in a manger,
No crib for His bed
The little Lord Jesus
laid down His sweet head.
The stars in the bright sky
looked down where He lay.
The little Lord Jesus
asleep on the hay
The cattle are lowing
the poor Baby wakes
But little Lord Jesus
no crying He makes
I love Thee, Lord Jesus
Look down from the sky
And stay by my side,
'Til morning is nigh.
Be near me, Lord Jesus,
I ask Thee to stay
close by me forever,
and love me I pray.
Bless all the dear children
in Thy tender care.
And take us to heaven
To live with Thee there
.
8 - O Come, All Ye Faithful
O come all ye faithful,
Joyful and triumphant,
O come ye, O come ye to Bethlehem;
Come and behold him
Born the king of angels:
O come let us adore him,
O come let us adore him,
O come let us adore him,
Christ the Lord.
God of God,
Light of Light,
Lo! He abhors not the Virgin’s womb;
Very God,
Begotten not created:
O come let us adore him…
See how the shepherds,
Summoned to his cradle,
Leaving their flocks, draw nigh with lowly fear;
We too will thither
Bend our joyful footseps:
O come let us adore him…
Sing, choirs of angels,
Sing in exultation,
Sing, all ye citizens of heav’n above;
Glory to God
In the highest:
O come let us adore him…
