Dr. Larry F. Devane, President
Redlands President Dr. Larry F. Devane has created a vision for Redlands that
includes state of the art technology, varied course and program delivery
modes, student focused facilities, numerous public and private education
partnerships and a high standard for competitive athletics.
Dr. Devane was selected by the American Association of Community Colleges
to the International Education Commission. The Commission will be focused
on analysis of student access to U.S. Community Colleges and the role of the
AACC in partnering with learning access at the associate level in countries
developing community colleges.
Dr. Devane continues to serve on the AACC National Homeland Security Task Force and the task force
steering committee. Phi Theta Kappa (PTK), the international two-year college academic honor
society, has recognized Devane for his multiple years of service to PTK’s Oklahoma/Arkansas region
as a Distinguished Presidential Ambassador. Further, PTK has awarded Dr. Devane the Shirley B. Gordon
Award of Distinction.
Dr. Devane’s state and community leadership roles are varied, including serving on the Board of Directors
of the El Reno Chamber of Commerce Foundation for Progress, El Reno Federal Corrections Institute
Community Advisory Council, Canadian Valley Integris Hospital Board of Directors, Vice President of
the Canadian County Greater Oklahoma City Metro United Way, Coordinator of Leadership Canadian
County, as well as past President of the Oklahoma Two-Year Colleges Presidents Association. Devane
has served as President of RCC since 1990 and was honored in 2001 by the Redlands Board of Regents
with the naming of a campus building, the “Larry F. Devane Multi-Media Lifelong Learning Center.” He
recently was named as the 2005-06 El Reno Citizen of the Year.
Prior to coming to RCC, Dr. Devane was President of Highland Community College in Highland, Kansas.
He attended Coffeyville Community College, earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Emporia
State University, and his Ph. D. in adult and occupational education from Kansas State University in

Redlands Basketball 2008-2009
MEN’S BASKETBALL SEASON OUTLOOK
A new era at Redlands has begun; Coach Yaphett King joins the 2008-2009 roster, which remains
similar to last season. Entering their sophomore year Andrew Cunningham, Antoine Watson, Marvin
Roberts, Hamilton Nash, Vincent Talbot and Norman Primous will be counted on for leadership, scoring
and defense. Andrew ´Webbµ Cunningham is a lightning TuicN point guard who will Àll up the assist
column. Antoine “Toine” Watson who, with his ability to score and defend multiple positions, will be
one of the most versatile guards in the country. Hamilton “Ham” Nash is a natural athlete capable of
playing either forward spots, rebounding and knocking down open jump shots. He will leave it on the
Áoor every game. Marvin “Marv” Roberts can Áat out score with the best of them and will also provide
highlight dunks this season for Cougar fans. Vincent “LA” Talbot will provide help at the point and off
guard spot and is a dead-eye shooter as well. Norman “Norm” Primous is a tall, athletic, defensive
minded player who guards all Àve positions and buries it from long range. He will be an energy and
defensive spark plug to the team.
Along with the sophomores, freshman Kevin Rolland will be counted on to knock down open shots
and guard. Matt Mobley will contribute in the rotation with his athleticism and defense. Brandon
Cain, whose hard work and great attitude is well respected amongst his peers, will garner time at all
positions on the court. Zach Hunter, a tough player
who doesn’t back down, will be looked upon for
his toughness. Rounding out the freshman
class is Matt Washington who will provide
much needed front court help for the
Cougars.
The men’s basketball program
under Àrst-year Head Basketball
Coach Yaphett King will be
looking to play an up-tempo,
fast style of basketball that
will highlight the strength’s
of this Redlands team scoring
from the wings. Marvin
Roberts and Antoine Watson
head a big time scoring
attack from the wings with
their size and athleticism.
Hamilton Nash will dominate
the glass, knocking down
jumpshots. Andrew Cunningham
will dish out assists and Matt
Washington’s scoring down low
should make the 08-09 Cougars a
lot of fun to watch.
