The release was greeted with a sell-out show in Dublin’s Crawdaddy together with a No 2, week one entry on iTunes Rock Chart. From the band’s formative years, El Hombre Jokes quickly made an impression especially on the live scene. In 2009 GigSmart said of a performance in Dublin’s Button Factory that EHJ were "One of the most eclectic bands I have ever seen" (March 2009). In July of the same year another reviewer described the band’s Crawdaddy gig ".... the evening was uplifted by a very funky band with an equally funky name El Hombre Jokes”. Since forming, El Hombre Jokes has, on rare, but welcome occasions, taken their musical craft to the streets, entertaining city centre crowds in Dublin, Cork, Galway and some of Ireland’s other towns with their unique and funky sounds. These ventures have proved quite lucrative for the band. During the summer of 2010 the band sold in the region of 2,500 CD’s to its ‘busking market’ alone. Ian from the band says “We love playing live, whatever form that may take. Selling out venues is ‘the’ rush for us, like Crawdaddy last June and ‘Upstairs in Whelans’ at Christmas. However, some weekends we have decided, at short notice, to do a bit of busking! It’s a different dimension, but has proved a really worthwhile exercise for us– we get to play for, and interact with, people who might otherwise never get to hear us, we sell a lot of CD’s and we also use our street performances to try out new material and see what gets a reaction!
