Our final show of the 2016/2017 season will be
“Out of the Frying Pan”
Written by Francis Swann
Directed by Andrea Wilkerson
July 14-23, 2017
Three young men and three young women share an apartment in all innocence;
they are would be stage folk and they are doing this for economic security.
Their apartment is immediately above that of a Broadway producer who is
about to cast a road company. They rehearse the play but how can they get him
upstairs to see it? It happens that the producer is an amateur chef and, right in
the middle of a culinary concoction, he runs out of flour. He comes upstairs to
borrow a cup. At last the kids have him and they aren't going to let him go until
he sees some evidence of their ability so they stage a murder. It is so realistic
that police swarm into the scene with hilarious results.

Poe’s Midnight Dreary
Pinocchio
Written by Richard McElvain, Edgar Allen Poe
Adapted by John Baldwin
Synopsis: Edgar Allen Poe's life works are hauntingly
dramatized in this play. The story is cleverly told through
a series of dramatizations of the master's works: The
Tell Tale Heart, The Black Cat, The Raven, Annabel
Lee, The Fall of the House of Usher, The Premature
Burial and The Poetic Principle. These stories are
threaded together with the events of Poe's life as he
deliriously remembers them on an anonymous deathbed
in a Baltimore Hospital. McElvain fully recreates each
story on stage, often making use of special stage
effects, bringing those haunting images of Poe's work
into the theatrical world.
Synopsis: From the moment Pinocchio wrecks
Mastroni’s puppet show until he becomes a real boy for
rescuing his father from the great fish, the excitement
never abates in this charming adaptation. The Blue
Fairy and her three wood elves introduce the story, set
the scenes and work the magic as Pinocchio travels his
road of misadventures. Pinocchio’s ’growing’ nose,
Pleasure Isle, the Great Fish are all handled with
fascinating simplicity.
Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike
Written by Christopher Durang
Synopsis: Middle-aged siblings Vanya and Sonia share
a home in Bucks County, PA, where they bicker and
complain about the circumstances of their lives.
Suddenly, their movie-star sister, Masha, swoops in with
her new boy toy, Spike. Old resentments flare up,
eventually leading to threats to sell the house. Also on
the scene are sassy maid Cassandra, who can predict
the future, and a lovely young aspiring actress named
Nina, whose prettiness somewhat worries the imperious
Masha.
Avenue Q
Music & Lyrics by Robert Lopez and Jeff Marx
Book by Jeff Whitty
Rated R
Synopsis: The laugh-out-loud musical tells the timeless
story of a recent college grad named Princeton, who
moves into a shabby New York apartment all the way
out on Avenue Q. He soon discovers that, although the
residents seem nice, it's clear that this is not your
ordinary neighborhood. Together, Princeton and his new
-found friends struggle to find jobs, dates and their everelusive purpose in life.
