of the inspiring stories about
animals such as dogs, horses,
pigeons and one cat. The majority
of awards were related to war
service and the conflicts include the
Second World War, Korea, Iraq,
Yugoslavia and Afghanistan.

About the event…
Join us for a delicious Afternoon Tea in the lovely surroundings of family run
hotel – Hogarths.
The event starts at 1:00pm with a delicious afternoon tea. Following this,
will be Peter Hawthorne and his entertaining stories of a selection of the
animals who have received The Dickin Medal – also known as The Animal
Victoria Cross. Whether you are an animal lover, have an interest in world
conflicts and the parts that animals play or just fancy a nice afternoon out,
the event is bound to appeal.
Peter’s book, ‘The Animal Victoria Cross’, is available from Amazon,
W H Smith and other retailers, priced £16.99. He may bring one or two
copies for sale at the event.
There will be a raffle and it is expected that the event will end at around
3:00pm. All proceeds raised from the event are for Age UK Solihull –
supporting older people in the Solihull borough.
How to get there…
Hogarths Hotel entrance has a very long driveway therefore travelling by
public transport may not be suitable. Travelling by car will be easier. There is
disabled access to the hotel upon arrival.
