Treasure Island Costume Guide
COSTUMES ARE DUE AT PRACTICE NO LATER THAN
FEBRUARY 9th!!!!!!
This story is based on a story, which takes place in the late 1700’s (think “Pirates of the Caribbean” or
Revolutionary War times).
Pirates should wear typical pirate garb;
scarves around their heads, earrings, sailor
pants, “words” or “daggers” on their belts
(should be cardboard or wood). Some could
have patches covering one eye.
Long John Silver must have a wooden leg
and a crutch and two “pistols” in a
cummerbund (belt).
Pew must use a white came and wear a
“sword”.
Billy Bones must wear a “sword”.
Ben Gunn’s clothing must be tattered and worn (he has been living on a deserted island!)
The Townspeople, Squire Trelawney, Doctor Sarah
Livesey, Mrs. Hawkins should wear clothes that befit
their station in life typical of the 1700’s; for the men,
kicker-style pants, tights (or thin knee socks tucked under
their pants), three-corner hats, long sleeved shirt and
coats with tails.
Molly and Jaime and other townspeople women
should wear long dresses (ankle length) or skirts and
shawls.
Jim should wear kickers (short pants),
tights (or thin knee socks tucked under pants),
and long sleeved shirt.
Captain Smollet should wear
a sailor’s uniform with
gold braid to show his rank.
