Did you like the recital dinner?
Well, we did! The recital dinner is
where people go to see the students sing or play their instruments while they are having dinner. And, it was so cool because
we were in it! We sang “Momma
Says” along with Seth Hutchins. When Mrs. Giangreco
was asked how she felt about this year’s recital, she said, “I was so happy
with everyone. We could improve by more people in it.” The school
raised $460, and we bought a new xylophone.
Don’t forget to give a big pat on the back to the LPCS faculty,
staff, and administration. Also give one to the parents and 21 students
who performed!

The Lake Pleasant Central School District held its
11th Annual Sports Banquet on June 12, 2006. Athletes
were recognized for their participation in soccer, basketball, softball and baseball for the 2005-06 school year.
Families of the athletes brought in dishes to go with the baked
chicken, rice, and cake provided by the LP cafeteria staff, for a great
dinner enjoyed by
all. Everyone got
a Lake Pleasant
Panthers t-shirt at
the conclusion of
the program.

The students (and some staff who couldn’t resist
voting) were surveyed last month to see which
team, the New York Yankees or Boston Red Sox,
was liked better. The chart depicts the outcome
of the vote.
But, we all like the Lake Pleasant Panthers!!

ASK JEREK D EETER….
Dear Speculator Blue,
I think everyone in the town feels how your feeling, so don’t
feel like you’re alone. But, I think that I can help you. What I
usually do is read a book, watch movies, BAKE COOKIES, do
your homework , and play board games or draw / paint. I
absolutely love doing these things and hopefully… SO WILL
YOU!!!!!!! ☺ ~ Jerek Deeter ~
Dear Sharing Sister,
I understand your problem. I had to share a room with
my sibling also. It was hard to get along him/her. But,
maybe you guys should try to talk. If you have already tried
that, try playing a game or helping with each others
problems. Spend time together and give each other space
when they need it.
That’s all I’ve got for you!! ☺ ~ Jerek Deeter ~
Please write down your problem and put it in the Jerek Deeter mailbox on Mrs.
Brewer’s desk. Just sign a pseudonym (fake name) and get great advice in next issue.
THANX!
~Jerek Deeter~

WELDING FIRE STRIKES WORKERS AT INTERNATIONAL PAPER
by Thomas A. Germain, Grade 4
On May 3, 2006 at International Paper, boss Lance starts welding. He doesn’t notice
the old grease and diesel on the machine. After half an hour, the grease and diesel start to
smoke. Two minutes later, they ignite and boss Lance yells for employee Tom to use the fire
extinguisher. After a minute, the small blaze is out and Tom is rewarded with a raise.
Editor’s Note: Thomas Germain is a fourth
grader at Lake Pleasant Central School who came
to us requesting that he be allowed to join the
Newspaper Club for the remainder of this year.
The Club is for students in Grades 5-9, but we
were pleased to have him join and submit his work
in this section (Student Work) and look forward to
him full time next year!
