Greetings From Fr. Dave ~ Brett`s two

Greetings From Fr. Dave ~ [email protected]
Here we are back into the routine with school up and
running and the holidays behind us. Thank you to so
many of you for all your assistance over the holidays
and the preparation for them. It is a pleasure to witness
firsthand the amazing work of this parish. Most recently, thank you to our Events Committee who put on
the Epiphany Party last weekend. Well done in every
way! And, ongoing thanks to all of you who participate
so faithfully to our parish, week in and week out. May
Holy Trinity be all God wants us to be and may our
outreach be effective in building the Kingdom of God!
Our School Open House takes place immediately after
the 11:15 Mass this weekend (Jan.12). If you are interested in learning more about our school, come on over
for a tour and all the information. We are in the midst
of one of our best years ever with over 300 students
enrolled. Our faculty is doing a superb job, led by our
truly outstanding principal Dr. Gary Beckley.
Coming in two weeks, we begin the Bible 101 series.
During our homilies and supported by the bulletin and
website, we will be providing an introduction to the
Bible: What it is, Why it is important, How to interpret
it, and How to use it fruitfully. Brett and I welcome
your feedback on these series we are doing, this being
the third one now. Summaries of Faith 101 and Prayer
101 can be found on our parish website (www.ht.org).
And, mark your calendars for a big treat. Steve Angrisano will be back here at our parish on Monday,
March 10th for an evening of inspiration, storytelling,
and music. Steve is a national speaker and musician
who is incredibly gifted at drawing people into a very
natural and heartfelt openness to the ways God is at
work in our world and in our lives. We had him here
two years ago and knew then we just had to invite him
back. He will be speaking to the parish at 7:00pm that
evening, and will also be doing sessions with our
school children during the day and leading a retreat
session for our for parish and school staff. I encourage
you to schedule this in to take advantage of a great opportunity!
This week funeral services were held for John Hume.
May his soul and all the souls of the faithful departed
rest in peace.
Josephine Spelman, Talia Fisher, Collin Love, Audrey

Hello everyone. Happy New Year to all of you! Bit of a strange column for you this week: over the holidays, I had several of you request that I write up my recipe for brussel sprouts. I know, I know, you’re thinking, “Huh?” Some background: over the past few years, whenever our family has gotten together for Thanksgiving and Christmas, I’ve been
making brussel sprouts. Nothing else that I’ve made has ever gotten requests for an encore (especially not the turducken I tried three years ago at Thanksgiving – yuk!), but the brussel sprouts have become something of a fixture,
by popular acclaim. I’ve mentioned this to several of you over the years, and this year I finally agreed to give up my
secret and write up the recipe for you (first, though, a disclaimer: the recipe isn’t mine originally; I think I got it from
chef and food writer Mark Bittman. (Phew, got to take care of the legalities!) So without further adieu, here is the

We are excited to have planning underway for

extended family members and special friends to attend Mass
with their student(s), learn about the school, and participate
in activities in their student's individual classroom. There will
be refreshments for all attendees and this is a half day of
school allowing for more time with each other, if possible. It
is one of the sweetest days of the year.

give children the protection they deserve. The walk for
life begins immediately following the rally. Bring your
children and join your fellow parishioners to be a witness
for God's gift of life.

Baptism of the Lord ~ Matthew 3:13-17
Today’s reading tells about the baptism of Jesus in the Jordan
River. By baptizing Jesus, John lets everyone know that the
messiah is not coming, he is already here. When Jesus came
up from the water he heard God’s voice say, “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased.”

SMALL FAITH COMMUNITIES
Participating in a Small Faith, or Small Christian Community
(SFC) can be a rewarding experience for enriching your faith life.
A concentrated effort to engage new members occurs every year
during the Lenten season, but many groups once formed, continue to meet at regularly scheduled times throughout the balance of the year.
The format of the groups’ gatherings vary and change depending
on the wants and needs of the individual group.
There are over a dozen communities currently in existence. We
meet in public spaces, restaurants, even in member’s homes. This
is one way to “go make a difference” out in the world. Contact
Mike/Kamio Strassmaier for the specifics on joining or forming a
new community at [email protected] or
