WHEREAS it is deemed expedient to pass a By-law appointing
a Tax Collector and Water Commissioner for the said Town of
North Bay, and defining his duties.
BE 1'1' THEREFORE ENACTED BY Tim MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE
TOWN OF NORTH BAY AS FOLLOWS:I
'
1.
That all former By-laws appointing a'Tax Collector and
water Commissioner be and the same are hereby repealed.
2.
That the duties of the said Tax Collector and Water
Cqmmissioner shall be as follows;-

(a)· To collect all taxes
and
water rates for the
~own
of
North Bay at the times fixes by By-laws for the collection of
same, and pay same over to the Treasurer or the said Town of
North Bay daily, taking his receipt for same.
(b)
To send out yearly notices in January to all consumers
of water showing the amount of quarterly charges for the current
year, and arrears, if.any.
(o)
To prepare statement of outstandi11g water rates on the
first day of March, June, Sep13 mber, and December in each year,
and send the same to the Mayor and Co unci 1.
(d)
To have all water servia·es turned off fornon-payment of
rates, and to have the same turned on again when all rates and

charges have been paid.
(e)
To reo eive ·applications onprescribed forms for the
installation or renewal of water services and have the same
over to the Town Engineer for action.
(f)
To see that all provisions of,the Water-works.By-law
are properly enforced and report to the Mayor and Councilthe
amount of collections for each quarter, and any other infermation they may require.
(g)
The said Tax Col+ector and Water Commdssioner shall be
in his office in the Town Hall in the Town of North Bay, from nine
o'clock in the forenoon until twelve o'clock noon and from onethirty o'clock in' tm afternoon until six o'clock in the afternoon, each day of the week except Sundays and legal holidays,and
shall receive taxes and water rates during the following hours;-
1.
FOr the first twenty days of each quarter and a1 so
for the first twenty days after the· date on whichl'an instalment
of taxes is due, his office shall be open to the Public from
nine o'clock in the forenoon until twelve o'clook noon, and from
one-thirty .o'clock in the afternoon until six o'clock in the afternoon.
2.
During the remaining working days of the year his
ot'fice shall be open to the public from 10 o'clock in· the forenoon until twelve o'clock noon, and from one-thirty o'clock in
the afternoon until four o'clock in the afternoon.
(h)
The said Tax Collector and Water Commissioner to
devote his whole time to the service of the TOwn exclusively.

is paid for by the Town.
5.
That the said Tax Colleo tor and Water Commissioner

shall be paid for the faithful performance of his duties one per
cent ofthe total collection of Taxes, Waterrates and interest
thereon received by him during the yea:r 1919, excepting the
collelfftion for hydrant

and all other Municipal services.
That, in order to more equalize the monthly payment,
the Tax Collector and Water Commissioner be paid the sum of
One Hundred and, Twenty-five dollars, per month, and charged to
his account.

That, on the first day of APril, July, and October,l919,
and on the lat. day of January 1920, the Tax.Collector and
water Commissioner shullbe paid the balance to his credit,
if any, for the preceding months of the year 1919.
8.
That the said Tax Collector and Water commissioner shall
employ ::nd pay for any necessary assistance required in the performance of the duties of his office to comply with the provisions~
this By-law, and the statutes with reference to the
collection of Taxes and Water Rates.
(a)
That the Town of North Bay shall furni 91 all stationery
and Postage.
9.
That the term of engagement of the said Tax Collector
and Water Commissioner may be terminated at any time at the
pleasure of this council, without any notice neing required to
that effect.
Thi a By-law shall be considered to take effect from the
first day of January 1919.
