Sky, Year 4, Spring 1 Learning at home The following learning has been planned to link with our topic, Sir Francis Drake. I would like you to complete one activity each fortnight. It is your choice which activities you complete. One piece of homework will be due in every other Friday beginning next Friday 18th January. You will need to complete three pieces of homework before half term. Terrific Treasure Great Games Exciting Writing The Spanish people thought of Sir Francis Drake as a pirate as he stole treasure from their ships. Why not make your own treasure chest to bring in to school. Why not create your very own board game to teach people about Sir Francis Drake’s adventures. You could base your game on a known game if this will help you. Sir Francis Drake was a famous Tudor explorer. He had many adventures in his lifetime so why not write your own story about a pirate adventure. Amazing Artwork Marvellous Models Wicked Word-search Sometimes you can tell what historical figures may have been like by looking at portraits of them. Draw your own portrait of Sir Francis Drake. What kind of person do you think he was? Sir Francis Drake sailed around the world on his ship, The Golden Hind. Can you make a model of this famous ship? Ask your teacher for a word-search about Sir Francis Drake to complete. Alternatively you could create your very own wordsearch to link with our topic. Powerful Posters Awesome Adventure Perfect Poems Create a poster with information about Sir Francis Drake. Make it visually appealing and interesting to look at so people will stop and read it. You are able to visit The Golden Hind in Plymouth. Why not go on a trip with the family to explore this exciting piece of history. Take plenty of photographs to bring into school to show us. Write a poem about Sir Francis Drake. You could try to make your poem rhyme and maybe include a repeated pattern. Alternatively you could create an acrostic poem.
