Every day you should: Use Spanish! You cannot become comfortable if you don’t practice. You will be reading, writing, speaking and listening to Spanish. It is an expectation that you use the language as much as possible. Just like a child, you will have to use what you know to figure out what you don’t know. Come to class ready to learn! Be present in class and on time. Come with all materials and a proactive attitude. I. Materials: Bring your supplies to every class. You will not be excused to get your materials and points may be deducted for being unprepared. You will need: IPad (charged) Writing Utensil Paper Pen of a different Color Any resources Helping and supporting each other in the classroom is important. Be respectful of your peers, your teacher and your classroom. Put downs and negativity will not be tolerated. Technology devices are to be used as a learning tool. Take responsibility for your own learning! You will get out of it what you put into it. Let me know if you don’t understand or if you need help. Complete your class assignments and review every night even if you don’t have homework. Repetition is the key to memorization. Use your resources. GRADE POLICY A student must earn a proficient (at least a 70%) score to be successful in the next semester or level. CLASSWORK: Practice in speaking, listening, reading and writing I DO NOT TAKE . . . Absences will affect your class grade. I will collect it periodically and give points for completion. OR HOMEWORK FOR . . . Late Homework Unexcused Absences Tardies You are responsible for the answers even if you did not do the assignment. If you were present when it was assigned it will be due the day you return. You have two days to turn in homework from an excused absence. Tests and Quizzes: Tests = 100 pts Review daily Demostrate Performance and skills Absences on the day of a test are inconvenient for both you and me. You must make up a test on your own time (within a week of the absence.) You may also lose any bonus points or incentives that are given to the other students. Presentations and Projects: Most projects are worth 100 points. Late projects loose 5 points per each day late. You are demonstrating your knowledge. Use of an online translator or an advanced student will not be accepted and will receive a zero. Presentations must be given on the day it is due. If you know you will not be there, please speak to me prior to presentation day. F PARTICIPATION: “Pesetas” (Spanish dollars) are given for participation and rewards. Students are responsible for their own pesetas. Pesetas are collected periodically and points are given based on the class average. You are responsible for making up work from an absence. You have one week. If you were in class when the work was assigned it is still due on the day you return. Unexcused absences can affect your points.
