Ethos
Refers to the author’s credibility or trustworthiness.
In an ethical appeal, the writer presents himself / herself as an
ethical person as having:
◦ Good sense / Practicality.
◦ Good will.
◦ High moral character.
Personal attacks ≠ Proving other side is wrong.
◦ ad hominem
◦ Going off the rails to attack someone personally = You can’t hold an argument.
