Easy White Sauce Many Meals What do I need? 550ml/1 pint milk 3 tablespoons cornflour What do I do? 1. In a small bowl, mix together a little of the milk with the cornflour until well blended and set aside. 2. Place the remaining milk in a saucepan and heat over medium heat. Do not boil. 3. Stir the cornflour mixture again and pour over the hot milk, stirring constantly, and cook over medium heat until the sauce thickens. 4. You can use it plain like this in pasta bakes, chicken pies and lots of other dishes. What can I make with it? Cheese sauce: add 1 teaspoon of mustard, 30g/1oz grated cheese and a pinch of ground nutmeg (optional) after the milk. Use as a pasta sauce or in a lasagne. Parsley sauce: add fresh or dried parsley after the milk, Use with fish dishes such as in fish pie, or over fish fillets.
