Minimum/maximum
The minimum enrollment for all
programs is 8 and the maximum is 14.
Grades
Most of our programs are suitable
for grades 1-5 (see descriptions for
more information). Please choose the
three-grade span that is most
appropriate for your community:
1st-3rd, 2nd-4th or 3rd-5th.
Contract
We must have a signed confirmation
of services in order to run a program.
If you do not receive one of these
agreements, your program has not

week. Prompt payment is always
appreciated and allows us to continue
to offer our programs at the lowest
rate possible. Please note that we do
not accept parent checks.
Confidentiality
The fees in this catalog are made
available only to community-based
organizations.
Staff
We hire people who have proven
classroom management experience
and who can be trained to deliver our
curriculum. They may have
backgrounds as education majors,
community volunteers, and retired or
under-employed classroom teachers.
Background checks
Our staff are background-checked
before they are employed.

Wicked Cool Discovery Lab
Six of our favorite science lessons
wrapped up into one fun-filled
program! Explore the Earth by making
mesozoic volcanoes and delve deep
into the ocean to the coral reefs. Get
electrified creating simple circuits and
become a chemist to make rainbow
slime. Each week we’ll get into fun
science and engineering challenges —
all tried and true favorites!
Eco Engineers
Reduce, reuse, and recycle to create,
design, and build fun new gadgets and
gizmos! We’ll integrate some “green”
into our engineering challenges by
repurposing objects to build wind
powered cars and an Xmas light quiz
board. Design eco-friendly
experiments to test solar power,
water quality, and see what’s in your
food. Going green is wicked cool!
Girls Science Club
Back by popular demand! Engaging
hands-on chemistry and geology
projects will encourage girls to be
junior scientists. Unlock the secrets
of the laboratory to create
customized soaps, lip balms, and
lotions. Explore how chemists create
formulas and make your own cool
products to take home. New projects
include creating brilliant salt crystals
and investigating gems and geodes.
Motion Commotion
What’s shaking? Investigate the
physics of how things move! We’ll use
Newton’s laws to study crashing cars
and balloon rocket racers. Build a
toothpick tower and see if can survive
the shaking of “tectonic plates”,
design a zany zip line for a thrilling
ride, and spin your way to the top by

Science Mysteries
Who dunnit? How did you do that?
Solve awesome science mysteries by
becoming a super science sleuth!
Identify mystery powders and
unknown concoctions using chemical
tests. Dig deep to decode geological
clues to see how the earth has
changed over time. Solve the amazing
mystery of the color changing liquid
and disappearing water using the
power of science!
grades K-1. The activities promote
teamwork and critical thinking skills
as kids investigate basic engineering
concepts using DUPLOs. Build a
seesaw, vehicle, and spinning top and
other fun working mechanisms.
Perfect for the young builder with
tiny hands! Ages 5-7.
LEGO Engineering Junior
Imagineers
A Wicked Cool For Kids exclusive!
Using LEGO DUPLOs, kids in K-1 will
listen to stories based on popular
fairy tales. Kids will use the
engineering design process to help
solve their hero’s problems using
simple machines. Help LEGO Sam and
Sara create Rapunzel’s tower and a
pulley system to lift her lunch! Prince
Charming’s buggy is busted - can
Sam and Sara build a Charming Car
to carry the Prince’s blocks and save
the day? This program will emphasize
creativity, cooperation, engineering,
math and literacy skills. Ages 5-7.
LEGO Engineering
These programs teach basic
engineering concepts, problem solving,
and teamwork by playing and building
with LEGOs. We have three different
content-based programs to choose
from:
LEGO Robotics
LEGO Robotics introduces kids to
robotics programming. Kids create
bots with motors and sensors and
program them on our own computers.
There are lots of challenges to
engage budding techies. Starting 2nd
grade.
Basic LEGO Engineering
Junior
LEGO Engineering Junior is a 6-week
program designed specially for kids in
1 Engineering Concepts
Engineering Concepts covers basic
simple machines and is the
foundation for the other topics. We
investigate gears, pulleys, cams,
levers, ratchets, and many other
geek-chic topics by building such
things as street sweepers, hammers,
fishing rods and scales. Starting 2nd
grade.

2 Machine Power
Machine Power looks at the uses of
energy to power machines. We
investigate wind power design,
flywheels, gears, pulleys, and cams as
we build land yachts, cars, and
walking mechanisms. Starting 2nd
grade.
3 Creative Engineering
Each lesson, there is a problem to
solve which integrates the learning
from the earlier programs. Working in
teams of two, kids analyze a
predicament and find an engineering
solution that addresses all the needs
of the conundrum. Starting 3rd grade.
who we are
Wicked Cool for Kids provides
customized on-site enrichment
programs for elementary and middleschool kids. We work with recreation
departments, schools, and other
community-based organizations to
provide high quality experiences that
are affordable to a wide range of
parents and can be supplemented
with grant funds.
We offer complete hands-on
STEAM-based programs that extend
learning beyond the school day and
beyond the school year. Our
programs are managed locally in a
haul-in/haul-out, leave no trace,
soup-to-nuts format that challenges
kids to investigate their world
through science, art, and technology.
We base our programs on three
fundamental principles: learning, fun,
and safety. Our curriculum is
structured around an experiential
environment aligned to national
educational standards where we
engage kids in a range of challenging
activities.
We encourage our staff to be kidcentered rather than curriculumcentered. Kids learn at their own
pace and investigate freely. This
helps to keep them constantly
stimulated and on task but still in
their own comfort zone.
To maintain the level of excitement
for kids, we add new topics every
season. That way all our clients,
whether new to our programs or
longstanding, can always find
something fresh to offer. Our afterschool programs typically stand
apart from other activities but can
also be integrated into school and
extended-day programs.
In addition to our after-school
programs, we offer a comprehensive
range of topics for full-time summer
programs. See our website for
details.
