Bike Resources
Take a ride with Tufts Bikes.
Tufts Bikes is a student-run
organization aimed at promoting
bike culture at the university. To get
involved, visit tuftsbikes.com
Borrow bikes on campus for free.
Tufts owns a fleet of 30 bicycles available for rental at
the Tisch Library circulation desk. Bikes are checked out
the same way as library books. All bikes are equipped
with front and rear lights for your safety, and helmets are
available for checkout. Current students, faculty, and staff
who are over 18 can rent bikes. Visit tuftsbikes.com for
details.
Tune up your bike any time.
Crafts Center Repair Shop
Tufts Bikes has a fully equipped bike repair shop located
in the basement of Lewis Hall. Bring in your bike, and a
Tufts Bikes mechanic will help fix it. You can do your own
repairs as well. Visit tuftsbikes.com for open shop hours,
mechanic class information, and more.
Mayer Campus Center Fix It Station
Tufts’ new Fix It Station has all of the tools needed to
repair your bike and perform routine maintenance.
Whether you need fresh air in your tires or have to adjust
your breaks, the Fix It station allows you to make
adjustments quickly so you can get back on the road.
Travel further with Hubway.
Hubway is the Boston Metro area’s
bike sharing system. There are more
than 1,500 Hubway bikes at 155
stations throughout Boston, Brookline,
Cambridge, and Somerville. The closest
stations include Powderhouse Circle, Packard Avenue,
Teele Square, Davis Square, and Porter Square.

Purchase a u-lock.
U-shaped bar locks are the most effective devices for
preventing bicycle theft. The efficient design and solid
construction make them difficult to break. U-locks can
be purchased from Public Safety Administrative Services
(Dowling Hall, first floor) for $70.
Learn about SafeRide.
If you ever feel uncomfortable while cycling at night, the
Tufts University Police Department offers a program to
help you arrive safely at your destination. The free service
operates 7 days a week, from sunset to sunrise.
Visit go.tufts.edu/saferide for details.
