Every week we get closer to the fall season. This is evident because the market rebounds and the production of growers is increasing. Products that have been abscent from our offers, such as Cymbidium, have
returned and are being offered again. Summer is slowly on the retreat. The only thing in which we do not
notice this, is with the weather in the Netherlands. This week again, a few days with very high temperatures.
Of course, the result of this we will notice in the supply of Dutch flowers. We will keep you informed on the
status of affairs! Enjoy your week!

FLOWER
of the week
ANTHURIUM
It seems like someone has put paint on this intensely colored flower. The flower of Anthurium
is not the brightly colored front cover, but the
spike that is sticking out. Anthurium is available
in many trendy colors, sizes and shapes, so you
can use this flowers for all different types of bouquets and decorations. Anthurium also has very
long shelf life - the longest of all cut flowers.
FORECAST
Mixed Cymbidiums are yet again available, with 12
+ and 8 + flowers per stem. The availability of mono
colors also slowly increases. The varieties Melissa,
Charley Brown, Beauty Fred No. 60 and some
yellows and pinks in 12 + are available in plentyful amounts. In recent days, the demand has been
strong for Phaleonopsis in white and purple/lavender.
The schools have started again in Netherlands and
everything will be back to ‘normal’ again. The many
sun hours and the drought in recent weeks have
taken their toll in some products. About my own
products, such as the Chrysanthemum Spray Zembla
Lime and Zembla Brasil, you can see the result of the
weather, because these products have brown bracts.

GROWER IN THE SPOTLIGHT:
Ammerlaan
HYDRANGEA
In 2006, nursery Ammerlaan started growing Hydrangea at their
location in Rijsenhout. From 2011 the entire business of 3.3
hectares is filled with Hydrangea plants. Hydrangea is a beautiful,
large flower that can be handled in so many different ways. Ammerlaan Hortensia grows a number of different types in a stunning range of colors. They strive to supply a reliable and excellent
quality product.
Hydrangea can be either cut fresh or classic. Fresh Hydrangeass
have beautiful bright colors, but they are more vulnerable. From
June, Classic Hydrangeas come in different shades of green. Later
in the season these flowers color to more autumnal hues. Classic
Hydrangeas have an excellent shelf life, and they dry very well.
Some of the Hydrangeas are “blued” using fertilizers, which create are very distinct blue color. A number of varieties get a very
bright blue color, while other species turn more lilac or purple.
Therefore each variety can be supplied in a wide range of color
hues.
