1
STEP 1 :
Figure 1
Run a ‘safe pry tool’ along the gap as shown in figure 1 to remove the bottom piece of iPhone
back cover.
STEP 2 :
Figure 2
The step 1 will reveal the three small screws as indicated by the small circles in figure 2 that
need to be removed with a ‘Small Phillips Screwdriver’.

STEP 3 :
Figure 3
Once the screws are removed use the ‘safe pry tool’ again. This time running it along the side of
the iPhone to release the top part of the cover. Be careful when removing the case because this
will still be attached to the ribbon.
STEP 4 :
Figure 4
To release the back cover from the iPhone you need to remove the ribbon this is just held in a
place with a pop connector as illustrated in figure 4.

STEP 5 :
Figure 5
Once the back casing is released the next step is to remove the antenna. This is connected at
three spots indicated by small circles in figure 5 and there is a little bit glue holding it down so
you need a little bit of force to unpop these. We recommend using a ‘safe pry tool’ to do this.
STEP 6 :
Figure 6
There are now 3 more Phillips Small Screws to be removed from iPhone that are highlighted in
figure 6.

STEP 7 :
Figure 7
Once you have taken out the 3 screws you can now remove the motherboard from the iPhone.
Lift this up slowly and carefully (demonstrated in fig 7) as it is still connected with by 4 ribbons.
Three pop ribbon connections (see figure 8), which should just ease off. The fourth ribbon
connector is in a jaw lock connection (refer to figure 9), which we need to open to release the
ribbon.

STEP 8 :
Figure 10
Once this is done you can lift up and just ease out the battery as this is just gently stuck in. The
motherboard and the battery are attached as shown in figure 10.
STEP 9 :
Figure 11
The battery is soldered to the motherboard. To remove heat up the connections and release the
battery.

You can then replace with the new battery, making sure it connects the right colored wire to the
correct connection.
CAUTION:
 Before removing the battery from the motherboard, remember the order of the colored
wires correctly. Do not make the wrong connections as this can cause damage to the
phone.
 While removing the battery from the motherboard, avoid shorting the red wire with the
metal casing of the board as it can cause serious damage to the phone.
 Dispose off the battery properly as Lithium battery contains hazardous chemicals and
should always be kept out of the reach of children.
