1st July 2016 Newsletter Park Hill School

11th July 2016
The Deerstalker
The penultimate week of term has certainly been a wet one! In true Park Hill fashion, it
has also been a hive of activity! The whole school had ‘Move Around’ on Thursday
afternoon, where children spent time in their new classrooms with the teachers for the
next academic year. On Friday afternoon the children who are to join next year’s
Reception class and parents visited to spend the afternoon with their soon to be
classmates and teachers.
The First Steps children went to Woodland School with the Year 1 and 2 children on Friday afternoon. The
older children did a wonderful job of looking after the younger children. Exploring for mini-beasts, using
binoculars and magnifying glasses, they looked for birds and worms, found a big spider and spoke about
animals using camouflage.
Mr Ruben popping in to say hello was a lovely surprise. He has plans to return to Spain at the end of July,
where he hopes to secure a teaching post.
The children gave Mrs Engel a fabulous send off, with homemade cards, gifts and even dedicating a song
to her during Thursday’s assembly. Mrs Engel thanked everyone for making her so welcome at Park Hill.
She looks forward to a retirement full of Granny duties.
From next week we will be conducting an audit of all our reading books which means that no more
reading books sent home this term. Please do return any books that belong to the school so we can
include them in the audit. On Wednesday we will be sending home all the children’s work from this year;
please send a strong, named carrier bag to school, with your child.
There will not be a sports lesson for the Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 children on Tuesday 5th July,
therefore no kit will be required that day. Swimming for Years 1 & 2 will continue, as usual on Wednesday
6th July.
Mr Bond will be in school next week and looks forward to meeting you on Monday, 4th July between 6:30
and 7:30pm. Please let the office know if you are planning to attend.
Best wishes.
Helen Marshall
End of Term Arrangements
Please join us for our Prize Giving and Leavers Assembly on Thursday 7th July, 11am at St. Paul’s Church
(across the road from the school).
The Assembly will last approximately an hour and all family members and friends are welcome. The end of
term will immediately follow and children should be collected from the school.
All children attending should wear their formal school uniform ensuring that shoes are polished, dresses have
