Core Course Titles of Works - North Allegheny School District

Core Course Titles of Works
2010-2018 Curriculum Review Cycle
(Revised, June 11, 2015)
North Allegheny School District
English Language Arts Department
Grades 6-12
Core Titles Forward
Core titles are literature titles that the teachers of each course agree they will
ALL teach assuring that every student in that course reads that particular piece of
literature. The purpose of having the list is:
1. To provide consistency across the district.
2. To assure that all students are exposed to a well-rounded literature
survey.
3. To prevent students from receiving the same literature instruction year
after year because teachers are unaware of what is taught in previous
courses.
The current consolidated lists reflect the Core Titles that will be taught in each
course beginning in 2011-12.
