Cut two, 2-1/2” x 44” strips from 1/4 yard of border fabric. From each strip, cut one 2-1/2” x 24-1/2” strip for side border and one 2-1/2” x 16-1/2” top/bottom border. piecingdirections 1 2 3 4 5 Lay the 16-1/2”x20-1/2” rectangle fabric with the right side facing up on a flat surface. Layer the 16-1/2”x 2-1/2” top and bottom strips across the top and bottom of the rectangle with the right sides together. Pin along edges and stitch together with a 1/4” seam allowance. Press seams towards the strips and away from the center rectangle. Repeat this procedure with the 24-1/2” x 2-1/2” strips along the sides of the rectangle. Refer to Diagram 1 for image of pieced rectangle which should measure 18” x 22”. diagram 1 assemblydirections 1 2 3 4 5 Layer the two 20” x 24” batting rectangles and center the canvas face down onto the batting. Wrap the batting to the back of the canvas frame and staple. Working on a flat surface, lay the pieced fabric rectangle face down. Center the canvas, with batting side down, on top of the rectangle. Wrap the borders to the back of the canvas frame and staple in place. * Make sure that the fabric is taut but not stretched beyond it’s shape. Double check the postioning of the rectangle before stapling. Once the fabric is secured with staples, trim the excess batting and border fabric so they are flush with the inside of the frame. diagram 2 puttingittogether 1 2 3 4 5 6 When attaching the ribbon to the bulletin board, start at upper right corner. Staple the end of the ribbon to the back of the frame. Bring the ribbon across the front of the bulletin board and to the bottom left corner. Pull the ribbon taut and staple in place, then cut. Repeat this procedure on the opposite diagonal corner, making and X across the message board. Refer to the ribbon placement Diagram 2 and place pins at the center ponts of the bulletin board: top bottom, and sides. Staple the end of the ribbon to the frame at the top center then bring the ribbon to the left side center point; pull taut and staple in place, then cut. Repeat this procedure bringing the ribbon to the right side center point. Attach the ribbon to the bottom center and sides in the same fashion. Stitch the buttons at the points where the ribbons intersect, making sure to stitch through all the layers. Attach the sawtooth hanger to the back of the frame for hanging or use a large easel to hold your fabric covered bulletin board. © Copyright 2010 All rights reserved.
