Global markets ended 2015 on a dissapointing note with The FTSE100 down 5% on the year , whilst Dow Jones and S&P 500 fell 2% and
0.3% respectively.
European stocks fell in early trade today after a rout in Chinese equities rekindled concern that the nation’s economic slowdown will
hamper the global recovery. Chinese stock markets tumbled 7% in their opening session of 2016 on Monday as weak factory activity
surveys and falls in the yuan added to concerns about the struggling economy, forcing exchanges to suspend trade for the first time.
Oil gained for a second day as Saudi Arabia cut ties with Iran a day after its embassy in Tehran was attacked to protest the Saudis’
execution of a prominent Shiite cleric. Futures rose as much as 3.5% in New York, extending Thursday’s 1.2% advance.
