We feel that in doing so, it will enhance your academic excellence and highlight your special interests. To help you achieve this endeavor, the Student Activities Director and the Student Body President/Student Trustee can provide you with the necessary information to join in on the fun of an existing club. In addition, the Inter-Club Council can inform you of the ICC meetings which meet twice a month. These club organizations are teamed together with enthusiastic students and supportive faculty advisors working together to achieve the goals set forth to promote the clubs and support the community. We are dedicated to helping raise awareness and finding solutions to issues that affect students with disabilities on campus and in society. The club is also committed to supporting the community through many charitable programs. Together Plus is involved in on-campus student activities as well as social activities such as going to the movies, field trips, bowling, pizza parties, monthly Newsletter, and monthly Club meetings. The Club acts as advocates for the rights of students with disabilities on campus as well as in our communities. In addition to our formal agenda, the Club is a great support group for students with disabilities to get the most out of their college experience and provides members the opportunity to develop lasting friendships. Our office hours are Monday-Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., and Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Throughout the year clubs sponsor lectures, cultural celebrations, community service projects, and field trips. Stop by and get involved. THIS IS A HATE FREE CAMPUS AMAN/AWOMAN PROJECT AMAN/AWOMAN Project The AMAN AWOMAN club is a new club organized for the 2007 2008 year at Chaffey College. The primary purpose of the club is to provide an opportunity for African American Students (and others) to connect academically, socially and spiritually as they proceed towards success. In view of this purpose, the club will host activities to: share their heritage, to assist other students in navigating the campus services, provide outreach within the district community and raise funds for scholarships and or emergency academic circumstances that may arise for other club members. The goal is to "Connect to Succeed." Club President: Felicia Hunt Club Advisor: Donna Colondres 652-6226 THE PAGAN SOCIETY The Pagan Society The Pagan Society meets on Wednesdays at 2 to discuss everything related to paganism: nature-based religions, Wicca, mythology, Celtic goddesses, rune stones, shamanism, druids, New Age beliefs, Voodoo, Shintoism, Taoism, Tantricism, tarot cards, the law of three, and whatever our members suggests. Anyone can join who respects the diverse views of the members; no belief in paganism is required. Our goal is to simply enjoy sharing information and spending time discussing all things pagan with kindred spirits. Club President: Teresa Mayer Club Advisor: Cathy Decker 652-6950 TAX, ACCOUNTING, AND BUSINESS SOCIETY Tax, Accounting, and Business Society To expose members to additional opportunities in the tax, accounting, and business professions while establishing a presence in the community through assistance and service. Also to provide a valuable means to meet and network with new friends, industry professionals, and potential employers. Club President: Dasha Jeffrey Club Advisor: Teresa Thompson 652-6853 ASSOCIATED PRESS Associated Press The purpose of the club is to promote journalism among students at Chaffey. The club raises the majority of its funds through advertising sales in The Breeze and, in turn, expends these monies supporting the production and promotion of the paper and the students involved. In addition to some production expenses, the club pays for attendance at appropriate and necessary journalism functions and conferences. Club President: Muriel Gladney Club Advisor: Doug Walsh 652-6934 ASCC Associated Students of Chaffey College The Associated Students of Chaffey College (ASCC) is the official student governing body that represents all Chaffey College students. Their primary responsibility is to represent student interests on college. Students can become active in ASCC either by running for office or by applying for the various government positions. All students interested in participating in government, student activities and in planning and implementation of programs and services for students should attend the ASCC meetings (Campus Center East, inside Student Activities). Our Mission is to promote and encourage the learning of the Spanish language on campus and in the community. Our goal is to increase awareness, familiarity, and appreciation about different Spanish-speaking cultures, heritage, customs, art, and food. Club President: Moses Estrada Club Advisor: Mercedes Limon 652-6933 CERAMICS CLUB Ceramics Club The Ceramics Club is one of the oldest clubs on campus. Membership is comprised of students who are taking at least one ceramics class and enjoy the art of ceramics. The club meets as needed in the ceramics workshop. Club members provide demonstrations at local art fairs and have held ceramic workshops. Each year, the club sponsors ceramics sales and proceeds from this sale are donated to worthy causes. Sales are used to support club activities. Through active involvement and organization we are working to create a community of individuals with a strong interest in art and art history. Club President: Sherrill Stansbury Club Advisor: Julie LaMay 652-6930 MUSLIM STUDENT ASSOCIATION Muslim Student Association The Muslim Student Association of Chaffey College is an organization comprised of Muslim and non-Muslim students. The purpose of the association is to increase awareness of the Islamic faith among the students and faculty of Chaffey College. The Muslim Student Association is open to, and welcomes all, interested individuals. Islam has long been a misunderstood religion in the United States and Europe. Our aim is to provide information that will clear up misconceptions about Islam and foster a better understanding among Muslim and non-Muslim students. We do not strive to convert anyone, only to provide information about the teachings of Islam. Because of Jesus' command to “make disciples of all the nations”, our desire is to equip and encourage Christian students to share the "good news" on campus. Club President: Leif Jensen Club Advisor: Harold Powell 652-6569 COMMUNITY AWARENESS CLUB OF THE SOUTH AFRICAN AIDS CRISIS Community Awareness Club of the South African AIDS Crisis The long term and objective goals of the CACSAAC club is to bring awareness and education to Chaffey College, as well as surrounding communities, concerning the devastating impact HIV/AIDS has had on South African children. Along with this goal a main focus of the group is to raise funds in order to help purchase HIV/AIDS medication and treatment to those children being treated at the Ithembalabantu (people’s hope) clinic in South Africa. This is what makes the club exciting and application of grassroots movements are attainable educational experiences through participation. Club President: Edna Chavez Club Advisor: Thierry Brusselle 652-6835 KAPPA SIGMA NU Kappa Sigma Nu Club Mission: to promote professionalism in nursing at Chaffey college, in the state of California and at the national level. We support the nursing students (RN program) at Chaffey with information, special speakers, community involvement and opportunities to attend state and national conventions for the national student nurse’s association (NSNA). Some of our goals this year are to participate in the Diabetes Walk on Nov. 3rd, attend the national convention this spring in Texas and plan a health service trip to another country this summer or next. This will be achieved by providing international students at Chaffey College an avenue which to interact positively with other members of the Chaffey College community. This club will also help create awareness about world cultures and educate members of the Chaffey College campus about current world events; to help foster a positive relationship which will impact the world we live in.
