that first led to contact with the Abu Dhabi Airports Company. A
pilot project was agreed a little more than a year ago: A double
unit of the same construction as those now in use was installed
and tested at the airport. Thanks to the efficiency and excellent
support provided by Kaba during the project, as well as to the
pilot unit itself, the customer decided that the Kaba Argus HSBM03 was definitely the best self-boarding solution.
The operator is now considering whether to install more Kaba
self-boarding gates at the airport and make these available to
other airlines too. “Common use equipment” is the key concept
here: If protocols, software and other factors are standardized,
all airlines should be able to use the same gates. Equipment can
then be used more flexibly and, most importantly, more intensively. Kaba has worked a lot on this idea and set standards with
its flexible concept and reliable solutions. In the long term, this
will pay off for everyone, especially for airlines and their
passengers.

Waste disposal for
a city of millions
Amsa ensures that Milan is always turned out nicely — and not
just during fashion week. Waste may not look pretty, but some of
it is valuable, so the company has just installed a new access
control system at its premises.

X-10 high-security
combination lock
Following extensive testing, confirmation has come that the Kaba
Mas X-10 high-security electromechanical combination lock
meets the US government’s expectations and requirements.
The X-10 is a self-powered combination lock that uses Kaba’s
exclusive PowerStar technology, and is impervious to external
mani-pulation and environmental interference. The X-10 was
engineered to conform to the strict requirements of specification
FF-L-2740B, Style 1. This specification sets out the US government’s criteria for security systems used to protect unattended
national security information (NSI). Specification FF-L-2740B
describes the electromechanical combination locks to be installed
on new and existing GSA-approved security containers, vault
doors and pedestrian doors with deadbolts.

B-web 91 05 FP biometric
reader
The new B-web biometric reader ensures unequivocal identification, helping to make companies even more secure. The reader is
a surface-mounted device equipped with a touch keyboard and
the reliable Morpho fingerprint sensor. It can also be combined
with an internal Legic advant reader, allowing companies to use
it for either identification or verification (finger and ID comparison). Depending on the model, the B-web can store up to 10,000
fingerprint templates. The reader meets IP 54 security standards
when installed in protected external areas, meaning it can be
used to safeguard buildings. As well as being suitable for manufacturing companies, the biometric reader is good for the food
and drink industry, where ID cards are often not allowed.

Easy key cutting
machine
The Easy key cutting machine for dimple and laser type keys is
becoming increasingly popular all over the world. As the name
implies, it is easy to operate and so is suitable for every key cutter or even users who are just entering the professional key
business. The Easy combines a solid, compact machine body
with attractive technical features, such as a spring-loaded
tracer point and a safety master switch. Easy represents the
result of a successful partnership between two of Kaba Group’s
subsidiaries. Silca, in Italy, led the way on the project development, while Minda, in India, coordinated local suppliers and the
actual production of the machines. This cross-border cooperation made the most of synergies relating to the codesign and
creation of products for worldwide markets.

Automatic license plate
recognition
Hundreds of cars and trucks visit distribution centers and industrial facilities every day, and ideally their entry into premises
should be smooth and efficient. But these sites have to be protected, and often is not possible to supply drivers with entry
passes in advance. By using different interfaces, Kaba exos 9300
offers easy integration of third-party systems. Functionality is
almost limitless without the need for special adjustments. Kaba
exos operators can easily integrate a vehicle license plate recognition system. This means authorized persons can access a site
or a building without the hassle of obtaining a physical pass. Kaba
exos handles the administration of license plates and controls all
access rights and permissions.
