EDITING
Couplets are two-line stanzas that rhyme. Couplet
poems are composed of several couplets.
Edit your rough draft. Use a red pen and proofreading
symbols to mark all mistakes that were found. Correct
the mistakes that were found.
BRAINSTORMING
1) Draw a 3 column chart. Label the chart as follows:
Place, Realistic Action, Unrealistic Action
2) Brainstorm 5 places you could go. (barn, kitchen, fair,
store, mall etc.) BE CREATIVE!
3) For each place you brainstormed, list a 'realistic'
action (RA) and an 'unrealistic' action (UA) that you
could do at that place. The actions must RHYME with
each other!
FINAL DRAFT
Using your rough draft as a guide, write your final draft.
Your final draft must be neatly handwritten or typed in a
readable font.

I went to the barn to put on a saddle,
I made a mistake…and sat on a paddle.

REVISING
Read through your poem and question yourself. Make
changes to your piece as necessary.
