Geography
Brampton is a suburban city in the Greater Toronto Area
(GTA) in Southern Ontario.
The city is the seat of Peel Region, situated along the
Etobicoke River within the inner ring of Ontario’s Golden
Horseshoe, about 32 km (20 miles) northwest of Toronto.
Provincial smoking regulations
Ontario has adopted a no smoking policy in all public
places, which bans smoking from airports, office buildings,
restaurants, hotels and all public facilities, except where
designated areas are noted.
Temperature expectations
Winter (December 21 to March 19)
Winter is a season some newcomers may not be used to.
Average temperature: -3°C (27°F), but can reach an
average daily low of -10°C (14°F). Snowfall: 115 cm
(45 inches) over the whole season. Type of clothing to wear:
heavy coat, sweater, gloves, winter boots and warm hat.
Spring (March 20 to June 20)
Spring is usually a rainy season and the temperatures are
cool, but sunny. Trees begin to bloom in spring and plants
and flowers begin to grow. Average temperature: 12°C
(54°F), but cooler at night. Type of clothing to wear:
jacket, hat, gloves and boots. For rainy days: raincoat,
rubber boots and umbrella are handy.
Summer (June 21 to September 21)
Summer weather starts off warm but gets very hot in July
and August. By September, it starts to cool down. Average
temperature: 20°C (68°F,) but can often climb over 30°C
(86°F) in peak summer months. Type of clothing to wear:
dresses, shorts, short-sleeved shirts and sandals. A light
jacket or sweater for cooler nights.
Autumn (September 22 to December 20)
Autumn brings cooler weather. This temperature change
causes trees to turn beautiful colours, creating a spectacular
display. Snow can start falling as early as November.
Average temperature: between 10°C (50°F) and
12°C (54°F). Type of clothing to wear: lightweight
jackets or sweaters and long-sleeved shirts.
