Please take a note of all relevant dates below for you and your child so you don’t miss out! Staff Changes We are saying goodbye to … Miss Catherine Rickman and Miss Jennifer Corbett who are leaving to take up new teaching positions at schools in Norwich. We would like to thank both Miss Rickman and Miss Corbett for all their hard work in their time at DCINS and wish them every success as at their new schools. We’re also saying goodbye to Mrs Gill Harrowven on the 8th June as Mrs Starman will be returning from maternity leave to teach Emerald Class on Monday 11th June. Mrs Harrowven will be returning to her previous school in Norwich and we wish to thank her for her hard work since January. New Staffing Structure from September 2016. From September we shall have a new structure to our teaching team. Mrs Bex Starman and Mrs Chloe Cole will be moving to Leading Teacher Roles which will mean they will not be full time class teachers. As Leading Teachers they will be members of the Senior Leadership Team and be supporting Mrs Gay in the leadership and management of the school. Mrs Starman, as Literacy Subject Leader and Mrs Cole, as Mathematics subject leader, will be focused on school improvement throughout the school and will support class teachers, particularly those new to the school. In addition both teachers will cover some teacher release time. We are saying hello to … In a time of teacher shortages being highlighted in the media, we are delighted to be able to tell you that we have appointed 4 new teachers to our Year 1 and Year 2 team. We were lucky to have 27 applications and from interviewing 12 we have appointed: To Year 2; Miss Holly Westmacott, who is currently teaching in Wells Next the Sea Primary and Miss Demelza Holloway who has recently qualified as a teacher after working in a school for five years as a Cover Supervisor. To Year 1; Miss Aimee Webster, who is currently teaching in Romford, Essex and Miss Lauren Peck who has recently qualified as a teacher. You will receive your child’s school report and a newsletter on Monday 4th July. The newsletter will outline which teacher is teaching each class. You will also be notified which class your child will be transferring to in September 2016. Creative Arts Week ~ Brazil ~ 27/6/16 to 1/7/16 ~ Further details will follow including a date for you to join the children for some Samba dancing as we have done in previous years! ~ Summer Fair ~ ~Brazil, Olympic Special! ~ Friday 24th June 1:30-3:00pm Your child may come to school dressed for the occasion in themed clothes. *Please be aware that the children will have normal activities in the morning so they will need to wear suitable clothes and shoes. Sports Day Tuesday 5th July at 1:30pm (Main School) All parents/carers are invited to sports day on the school field. The children may come into school in their PE kit for the whole day as they will be having a practice in the morning. Nursery Sports Friday 8 July at 10:30am Morning Nursery and 1:30pm for afternoon Nursery th Reading Café Friday 8th July Year 2 Year 2 families are invited for their final Reading Café. Further information will follow. Please make sure you return your slip by the deadline date to school if you intend to come. Doors open at 1.30pm. *************************************************************************** Wednesday 13th, Thursday 14th and Friday 15th July Transfer Days for all Schools in Dereham Our Year 2’s will spend all 3 days at their new school. We will be sending out further information regarding transition days nearer the time. Children who will be remaining with us in September 2016 will spend the three days with their new teacher. Children new to the school will be welcomed into school and given time to spend with their new teacher and class. ************************************************************************************************* Tuesday 12th July at 9:30am Strawberry Tarts Coffee Morning This is a thank you from the school to those parents/carers and friends of the school who have come into school and helped support the children and staff. Invitations will be sent out to parents/carers and adults who have regularly helped in school. ************************************************************************************************************ Colour Day – Main School Picnic – Rainbow Theme Wednesday 20th July For this year’s Colour Day each class will choose by Lucky Dip their own colour! Class teachers will let you know which colour has been chosen for your children to wear on Colour Day! *********************************************************************************************** Attendance Winners for Summer 1 Term – Diamond Class – 98.5% All classes were above 96% - Well Done !! Diamond Class will have their party on Friday 17th June *********************************************************** Christian Aid Week This year our focus is on the flood problems in Bangladesh. The children were asked to bring in silver coins, these were then used to build a coin worm in each class. The worms were then measured and the winning class with the longest coin worm is :- Pearl Class with a total length of 5 meters and 33cm. We raised an amazing £130.50. We would like to thank you all for your continued support. ******************************************************************* Especially for our Year 2 Children……. Tuesday 19th July Year 2 Leavers service at 11.00am in the School Hall All parents/carers, families and friends are invited to come along and celebrate their children’s time at our school.
