Features of a NatWest Essentials Home Contents Insurance Policy
The Essentials Contents Home Policy You have purchased is underwritten by U K Insurance Limited and will run for
12 months. Your policy schedule will show which of the following sections of cover You requested.

Section 1 – Contents

This section will not cover the following items:

What is covered:
Your policy will not pay for the following:
•Household goods and any other articles belonging
to You or any member of Your family who live with
you at Your Home
•property (including Money) held or used for any
profession, business or employment

•vandalism or malicious acts caused by You or any
other person who lives at the address shown in
the schedule
Money in the Home up to £50
Paragraph B – Extra Cover (Extra benefits included
as standard)
•
Contents away from Your Home up to £250
•Belongings during Vacation up to £3,500 or the
Contents sum insured, whichever is lower. (This
cover is applicable only if You are a Student)
•Replacing purchased or downloaded information
stored on Home Entertainment Equipment and
mobile phones up to £250.
•College property on loan up to £200 for College
library books and £500 for other College property.

•
property in garages, sheds and other outbuildings
Your policy will not pay for theft:
•of Money unless force and violence is used to get
into Your Home
•if left in Your Home while Unoccupied during
Vacation unless involving forcible and violent

After your home has been unoccupied for more
than 30 days in a row your policy will not pay for:

for any one single carrying device. (This cover is
applicable only if You are a Student)

Extra cover for accidental breakage of items like TV’s and ornaments, as well as DIY disasters like spilt
paint on carpets or furniture.

Equipment Cover
Laptop Computer Equipment and other portable electronic equipment such as MP3 players and hand held games
consoles belonging to You or any member of Your Family who lives with You at Your Home.

•if left in Your Home while Unoccupied during
Vacation unless involving forcible and violent
entry (applicable to Students only)
Cover for belongings if left in the Term Time Address

You are a Student)
•if left unattended at any time in a place which
has public access
For property left in Your Home after Your Home
has been Unoccupied for more than 30 days in

Any mobile phone belonging to You or any member of Your Family who lives with You at Your Home.

•unless reported to the police within 24 hours of

For property left in Your Home after Your Home

Section 4 – Pedal Cycles
Any pedal cycle belonging to You or any member of Your Family who lives with You at Your Home.

a row (other than during Vacation if You are a
student) Your policy will not pay for:

been specified on Your policy.

24hr advice/claim line – access to legally qualified
staff to advise you on any private legal problem, and
for reporting a claim

•Any claim to do with a motor vehicle, its parts
or accessories (except a claim against another
person or organisation for Your death or bodily
injury which happened while You were a
passenger in a motor vehicle)
Contract Disputes
•Any claim where the amount in dispute is less
than £100
•Any claim relating to a motor vehicle, its parts or
accessories
•Any claim relating to leases, tenancies or a
licence to occupy
Landlord/Tenant
•Any claim relating to rent, service charges or
renewal of the tenancy agreement
Legal Defence
•
Defending any motoring prosecutions
Rights to cancel
If this cover does not meet Your requirements, please call us on 0345 301 5286 within 14 days of receipt of Your
documents or of the start date of the policy which ever is later. We will refund any premium that You have paid,
providing no claim has been made.
If either We or You cancel Your policy we may refund any premium paid for the remaining period of insurance
providing that You have not made any claim during that current period. You will have to pay the administration fee
as shown in Your Schedule if You cancel Your policy.
How to Claim
To notify Us of a claim in the first instance please telephone 0345 301 5286.
How to Complain
If you have a complaint, please call us on 0345 301 5286. If your complaint is about a claim, contact your claims
handler, whose details will be shown on your claim documents. If you want to complain in writing please send your
letter to one of the following:
a)For complaints about claims, write to the Regional Customer Service Manager at the address shown in your
claims documents.
b)For all other complaints write to the Customer Relations Manager at Churchill Court, Westmoreland Road,
Bromley, Kent BR1 1DP.
Our staff will attempt to resolve your complaint immediately. If this is not possible, we promise to acknowledge your
complaint within five business days of receipt. In the unlikely event that your complaint has not been resolved within
four weeks of its receipt, we will write and let you know the reasons why and the further action we will take.
If we cannot resolve the differences between you and us, you may refer your complaint to the Financial
Ombudsman Service (FOS). Their address is: Financial Ombudsman Service, Exchange Tower, London E14 9SR.
