Student Financial Services Clara E. Jones Administration Building Room 340 and 349 Information Regarding Financial Aid and Student Accounts Admission - Students must be admitted to Oklahoma City University before eligibility for financial aid can be determined. FAFSA – To apply for financial aid, complete the FAFSA online at www.fafsa.ed.gov . The FAFSA for the 2008-2009 academic year will be available after January 1, 2007. Be sure to include Oklahoma City University’s school code (003166) on the application. The student will receive a Student Aid Report (SAR) with the results from the FAFSA via email in approximately 1-3 days, if the application was processed with a valid email address on the application. Otherwise, the student will receive a paper SAR in the mail in 3-4 weeks. Verification- If the Student Aid Report states that the student is selected for a process called verification, the family is required to provide additional documents to the financial aid office before an award can be determined. These documents include, but are not limited to, the previous year’s federal tax returns, W-2 forms, and verification worksheets. You will receive an email notification with instructions on how to log on to your Student Account to view what documents are needed. Federal and State Grants - Grant money is awarded first as eligibility allows. These programs include the Federal Pell Grant, FSEOG, OTAG, OTEG, ACG, SMART, academic and departmental tuition waivers, and scholarships. Then loans (Stafford and Perkins) and/or work-study may be awarded depending on the student’s preference and federal aid eligibility. Award Notification- Once your financial aid information is complete you will be notified via email that your financial aid award is available online through your Star Access account at www.okcu.edu . Follow the online instructions to accept and/or reject your awards and submit your award notification. No paper award letters will be sent. Accessing STAR Access Online – Online access to the student account is available 24/7 at www.okcu.edu. Simply enter the secure area, type in the Star Access ID and PIN, and select the Student and Financial Aid tab. The information provided on this page gives access to financial aid status, charges and holds that may be on the student account. Understanding your billing statement – Students can view their account online at any time. Billing statements are also emailed to the university student email two weeks prior to the tuition being due. Students can provide an additional billing email for the statements to be emailed. Tuition, fees, housing, parking and student health charges are reflected on the statements. Easy options for paying your account – Tuition and fees are due in full on the first day of class. For your convenience, we provide three options for satisfying the student tuition bill. Paying in person allows one on one service to answer any questions and provide immediate receipt. Online payment will be available in August for students, parents and guests. Telephone payments can be made using check or credit card by calling 405-208-5146. Implementing payment plans – We strive to make paying for your education quick and easy. Installment plans allow you to pay in more than one payment for effective debt management. ID cards – As of May 20, 2008 all students are required to have a new, valid ID card. The student ID card serves as the library card, provides a printing subsidy to release print jobs and copies, allows entry to the dorms and practice rooms, and keeps record of the student’s meal allowance. Our office creates, validates, repairs and adds money to the student ID card. Book Bucks – If the student account has verifiable financial aid in excess of the charges already posted to the account, you may be eligible to participate in the BOOK BUCKS program. A portion of the excess aid can either be direct deposited or applied to your student ID Card. Feel free to visit www.okcu.edu/studentaccounts/bookbucks for applicable dates and the book bucks request form. Excess Financial Aid – If the student has financial aid in excess of the charges on the student account, students can receive the funds through a direct deposit. In the event that direct deposit is not an option, the student may apply for an E-Chase card. Federal Work-Study – Students may apply earnings from a federal work-study position by signing a consent form for the earnings to be credited to their student account. Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) - If the student is returning to Oklahoma City University, he/she must be making Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) as determined by the Office of Financial Aid. Please refer to the OCU Satisfactory Academic Progress for Financially Aided Students for policies and standards. In order to have your financial aid award by the start of the school year (August 2008), students must apply early!!! To have financial aid for the Fall 2008 semester, all required documents must be completed and submitted to the Office of Financial Aid by June 1, 2008.
