Ask your children the following questions:

•
Who would you consider to be the worst kind of person in the world?
(Likely responses are criminals, murderers, child abusers, thieves,
terrorists, etc.)
Do you think it is possible for that type of person to change? Is it
likely that they will change on their own?
Who is someone you know personally who is not living for God that
you think is not likely to ever receive Christ as their Savior?
Do you think it is possible for this person to change?
Is it possible for someone to be so “terrible” that it is impossible for
God to reach them?

When Jesus died on the cross, He died for everyone. There is not
a single person in this world that is not within God’s reach. It’s true, it
takes that person being willing to receive forgiveness and to change, but it
is POSSIBLE for God to reach and change anyone.

Joseph’s brothers were evil people. They sold Joseph into slavery
and then lied to their father about it. They allowed their father to believe
that Joseph was dead. But, through a series of difficult circumstances God
was able to break through to their hearts. They confessed their sin and
made things right.

Do you think Joseph had probably thought of his brothers as
“unreachable?” Why or why not?
Do you think God can use some extreme circumstances to reach the
person you know who is far from God?

Can you think of someone who used to be far from God, but is now
living for Him with their whole heart?
What do you think made the difference in that person’s life?
Do you think others may have thought of them as “unreachable” as
well?

While it is true that we can not save people ourselves, there are
some things we can do. Ask your children:

God can reach anyone, no matter how hard their heart is or how
far away they may be. The Apostle Paul was a killer of Christians before
God reached him. He became an amazing man of God. Heaven will be
filled with former drug addicts, murderers, and even terrorists. God can
reach anyone. We must do our job to spread His message of salvation to
everyone, regardless of how “unreachable” they may seem to be.

Pray specifically for those people your children mentioned that
they know are not living for God. Pray that your children will be willing
to be used by God to reach those people. Pray for God to arrange
circumstances that will enable your children to be the ones to show them
God’s love.
