About the Role
The NY front desk manager will ensure that our front desk runs smoothly, effectively, and in a fiscally
responsible manner, and will serve as AF’s “face to the public.” The ideal candidate is a highly personable,
reliable, systematic, conscientious, and extremely organized worker-bee who deeply believes in the
Achievement First mission and is committed to helping build a network of high-performing schools. This
person will take initiative to solve issues in the office, and work with and alert the appropriate people to keep
our office running smoothly.
This is an hourly part-time position that does not have full benefits. Typical hours are 8 AM-1PM, MondayFriday.
Responsibilities:
 Lead the front desk function for our office space in Brooklyn, serving as AF’s “face to the public” for guests
and others
o Arrive every weekday, Mon-Fri, at 8 AM. Spend the first 45-60 minutes walking through our office
space completing a checklist to ensure the entire office is fully ready for the day.
o Staff the front desk from about 9 AM – 1 PM every day to accept deliveries, answer questions, and
perform other administrative duties.
 While at the front desk, perform key office management responsibilities, including but not limited to:
o FedEx Support
 Incoming and Outgoing FedEx Inquiries
 Ordering and maintaining FedEx Supplies
o Incoming/Outgoing USPS Mail Coordination
 Put mail in mailboxes
 Handle cross-region mail issues
o Fax Service Expert
 Forward faxes that come in

Postage Master
 Supply orders and Postage Printing
 Adding postage online
 Ordering Ink for Postage Printer
Reserve External Spaces
 Every day, check google sheet for new request and send email to appropriate point person
 Forward and respond as needed
Staples
 Place Staples order each Wednesday
 Distribute Staples order when it arrives
Water
 Managing water filtration system and maintenance
Signage
 Whenever there is an unexpected issue in the office, make a sign and make sure it is on
our letterhead, presentable, and laminated. (Examples: copier broken, delivery on the
way, door alarm not working -- please make sure to close behind you)
Printer
 Keep toner and paper stocked near printer
 Tidy up printer stations on a daily basis (Make sure recycling gets thrown out and
miscellaneous items do not accumulate near the printer station)
 Double check that there is extra toner and paper for all printers at all times
Office Maintenance
 Put in work orders for anything broken or not functioning properly.
Skills and Characteristics
 Extremely organized and detail-oriented
 Excellent written and verbal communication skills
 Results-oriented and willing to do “whatever it takes”
 Belief in the Achievement First mission and educational model
 Maturity, humility, strong work ethic, sense of humor, and “roll-up-my-sleeves” attitude
Educational Background and Work Experience
 1+ year in office work experience preferred
Compensation
This position pays $15/hour.
