According to Louise Hay, “the Universe loves gratitude.” The expression of gratitude in November leads us so beautifully into the season of light, Christmas, when it’s a time of new birth, and then a New Year. “...let us come in peace and with spontaneous joy, for the Spirit is joy; let us come with thanksgiving also, for a thankful heart is in harmony with life.” - Ernest Holmes Dr. Christian Sorenson reminds us that “when we see the good, we can’t help but focus on the affirmative.” A simple prayer of gratitude is the perfect prayer. My prayer of gratitude is direct and simple: Thank You… I love you! Each day I am grateful for our church and our teachings. My gratitude is so profound when I contemplate the blessings of each of you. You are the greeters and ushers. You are the hospitality of our church. You are the team leaders and participants of all of our ministries. You are the essence of our fabulous new building. The building isn’t the love everyone feels when they walk through the doors. You are the love. I am grateful to have the opportunity to lovingly serve our incredible spiritual community as your Senior Minister. And I am excited to look ahead and see how this community continues to grow in its heart and loving embrace of all. May you have nothing but love at your table this Thanksgiving. Peace, Love and Blessings, Nov./Dec. 2016 Page 3 New Dawn Mission and Vision Vision We are a vital, vibrant, prosperous and growing community, and wherever you are on your spiritual path, you are welcome here! CLICK HERE TO CONTRIBUTE! “A treatment is a statement in the Law, embodying the concrete idea of our desires and accompanied by an unqualified faith that the Law works for us, as we work for it.” - Ernest Holmes The highest consciousness is not one of possession, but one of being. When a problem confronts you, take it into the silence of your consciousness. Instead of thinking about the problem: think of the answer. Nobody grows old by living a number of years, people grow old only by deserting their ideals. We are dealing with the Intelligence, and we should recognize the Power we are working with, realizing our Oneness with It, and then we should ask for what we wish and take it! When you pray, you must speak words that make you believe the words you speak. Know that you believe, state that you believe, believe that you believe, affirm that you believe, and deny everything which contradicts true belief. Page 4 Nov./Dec. 2016 Affirmations By Mary Karuzas, RScP Spirituality - With each breath I take in, I deepen my connection with the Divine! I see the spark of the Divine in everyone I meet! I am grateful! Health - My body is forever creating a perfect expression of Divine health throughout every cell and every body system! I am grateful! Abundance/Prosperity - I claim a new relationship, a deepening into opulent abundance in my finances and I allow an incredible acceptance of continuing prosperity in every area of my life now! I am grateful. Career - I am completely surrounded and immersed by lovely expressions of God at work every day! I am grateful! Relationships - My relationships with family, and friends is surrounded with Divine expressions of the one essence of God. There is only oneness here! I am grateful! “Affirmations are like prescriptions “Treatment is not for the purpose of making things happen; it is to provide, within ourselves, an avenue through which they may happen. The moment we think we have to treat to compel something, that moment we are exercising a will power, which is now up against a proposition it cannot possibly meet. Treatment is not mental coercion; it is not will power; it is not concentration.“ — Ernest Holmes for certain aspects of yourself you want to change.” — Jerry Frankenhauser What Is a Practitioner? Nov./Dec. 2016 Page 5 Treatment Just as I see the first ray of sun piercing the darkness of a New Dawn day and I know that the beauty of that sunrise is also the beauty of God, I know that God beats my heart and is the silence between those beats. God is everywhere in my life and is also in everyone I meet and I know. There is only oneness here. And in that oneness there is a connection to the Earth as we turn from fall into winter. We use this time to forge a deeper bond with the Divine essence as we go inside. I realize this is a time to be grateful for the love we know as ourselves and for each other. I know it is a time to be grateful for the connection we have with our family and friends. I know this is the time to be grateful for the abundance we have and that we share. I am grateful for the challenges I face because I know I never face them alone. I am grateful for all of this and so much more. With super awesome great gratitude, I release this prayer into the love and the law where it is made manifest. And so it is! - By Mary Karuzas, RScP New Dawn Practitioners Jannette Benes John Churylo Tim Coates Jane Cooke Lenny Gehlken Cheryl Hiraoka Steve Hiraoka Sharon Jones Mary Karuzas Rev. We see the Golden Thread of Truth as it runs through Hanukkah, Christmas, and Kwanzaa. We light Advent candles and tell the Christmas story, light a Menorah and tell the Hanukkah story and play dreidels with chocolate coins and lastly, learn of the 7 principles of Kwanzaa. What a magical time of year for children! Holidays bring warm family time and cherished memories. Rituals are so important to children. It deepens their experiences and their spiritual life can be enhanced by them. Candle lighting and stories from different traditions about light or sharing feelings of gratitude at meals are simple and meaningful ways to bring ritual to your home-life. We will be doing rituals on Sundays as well, celebrating from all the different great religious traditions. The Light that lives inside of us is the focus for these next months. May your holiday season be full of the sweetness and love that your children bring to the Youth leaders and to EACH OTHER every Sunday. We are blessed with the Light they bring to our community. NOTE: Child care will be provided at our Christmas Eve service. - Cheryl Hiraoka Nov./Dec. 2016 Page 7 Teen News Teen Latte Sunday is back!!
