The Decision to Act
“It is a wonderful thing that a decision to act releases energy in the personality. For days on end a
person may drift along without much energy, having no particular sense of direction and having no will
to change. Then something happens to alter the pattern. It may be something very simple and
inconsequential in itself but it stabs awake, it alarms, it disturbs . . . in a flash one gets a vivid picture of
one’s self—and it passes. The result is decision, sharp, definitive decision. In the wake of the decision,
yes, even as part of the decision itself, energy is released. The act of decision sweeps all before it and
the life of the individual may be changed forever... .
“Here at last is the place where (one) may discover what manner of a person s/he is—where a person
may sense the independence of the self— may stand in his or her own right as a person-- where Life
claims him/her as a part of its vast creative power. … Shrink not from your heritage by holding back
when your time comes to act—for to act is to claim your true [identity].”
From for The Inward Journey by Howard Thurman

Keep Your Appointment with the Eternal Self
It is important to have an appointment with your Real Self that you lock into your daily
priorities! Look at the emphasis you place on appointments you have in the human world of
experience. If you’re giving those appointments more significance and importance than your
soul’s appointment (with your real authentic self), you have your priorities mixed up—out of
sync with your existence and contact with the Presence.
When you keep your appointment with the Presence, you experience Real Joy! You come to know that who you are is
not based on who the world says you are, or how others define you, or by circumstances you find yourself experiencing.
Even though things may not be going well, there’s a level of joy within your soul that knows--knowing itself beyond
circumstances.
You still participate in world, but you bring a level of joy with you, even in the midst of pain; the consciousness of truth
still operates in the “crazy world” of human experience. Don’t let anxiousness drive you! Set your intention: to move
into the place of calm at the center of the storm of any and every emotional fury. When you have a regular meditation
practice you become aware of states you’re experiencing. Just notice the states without trying to figure out why
the states are passing through your awareness. Just accept that there are states passing through your awareness.
Again, Intention is important! Don’t allow ego to stress you. Let go… Be still… Trust!
•
There’s no such thing as bad a meditation
•
Purification happens; detoxification takes a natural course of purifying, cleansing and releasing.
•
Bad feelings in meditations with a surge of cleansing feels same way, but you will come to find that the process of
letting go gradually expands and extends your meditation.
Purification is simply the releasing of toxins—emotional toxins, mental toxins, physical toxins.
When you experience a disconnection with Spirit,
make another appointment with the Eternal and go to meditation! Don’t let yourself give up on yourself. Darkness will be like a speck on the soul

even though it may feel horrendous. The darkness is part of the process of growth and all growth is about releasing something. There are benefits
to this process which bring forth tremendous breakthroughs.
Continue the process and practice even though emotionally the experience may feel awful. It’s the annihilation of the ego, not you!
Reacting to Outer Circumstances -- Reaction is not the real you
The energy that you once used to react to negativity can be used to release more light energy, to release more creativity. Reacting to outer
circumstances ceases as you center yourself in meditation and choose to respond from the place of your God-Self. In meditation you want to see
yourself radiating energy so you are not walking around picking up energy of others – you become more expressive with your radiant energy!
Most people are not seeking enlightenment. They are seeking to get rid of negativity. We know that thoughts
centered in God are more powerful than thoughts of negativity. When you set your intention to wake-up to the
Presence of God as your very life, nothing will satisfy like the sweet nectar of the Presence of God!
Outlining limits the Presence of God!
In meditation you will notice times when you will be in moments of bliss, feeling and sensing the Absolute Presence! Then there will be other times when you are
working in specific areas (i.e., health, finances, relationships. etc.) - you will combine your meditation and prayer work. You will move into prayer in these areas, for
clarity and guidance—you are seeking a realization of what is, but in the process you are to be careful not to outline how the resolution should be. To outline or
restrict the Spirit is to create a narrow window of acceptance and receptivity.
In prayer, you reach the Realization Stage where you come to a place of knowing it is absolutely done! Nothing
else needs to be added.
Some Friends and family May fall Away
In your journey of spiritual unfoldment, you observe that you are not who you used to be. Your friends

the process. When you go to your deep center, you connect with others from this place. You vibrate from this deep center. You grow in compassion
for your friends. Invite them in to experience your world, if this feels right to you.
When you seek enlightenment, you only have half the equation – once you discover your true identity - your real purpose – it must be experienced!
Spiritual Meditation
Spiritual Meditation
– is primarily about
waking up – about having a realization of your Oneness with God!
All modes of meditation (even those with a mantra) have some aspect of Spiritual Meditation .
In all types and modes of meditation you become aware of a dimension in existence that is out of
time. Out of this time-space, third dimension, you are waking up from a dream. As we wake up
from the dream, those things we experienced or worried about are no longer important to us. We

Through a consistent meditation practice you will discover that you have a greater awareness of things, situations and
people. Your ability of discernment is heightened.
Through discernment you may discover that you are not to do business with a particular person. If you are not to
engage in something, that will become apparent to you through your faculty of discernment.
Discernment is connected to your faculty of intuition. You can intuitively know something. You know something
without a process of reasoning. Both come from higher consciousness and an earnest desire to stay connected to the
Infinite—the Omniscient, Great Knower!
Desire and Intention to be in Divine Connection with Spirit are fulfilling themselves as your life.
You will start to fast or take a break, not only from negative thinking people, but you become
aware of where you have been holding on to negative beliefs.
Fasting Fallout
Remember: Another word for meditation is
mind fasting.
Your body may respond to your mind fasting by performing physical releases (i.e., quivers, gushing tears,
tremors, etc.)
Discernment comes out of sacred
text – “Behold I am sending you out as sheep in
the midst of wolves, so be as wise as serpents and as
innocent as doves.” Matthew 10:16
There is a re-wiring of your nervous system happening during the mind fasting.
The old neuro-pathways that held certain false, negative beliefs are shutting
down and you are building new pathways that correspond to your new way of
thinking and being in the world.

there are different levels of release; do not be alarmed by the releasing process
You signed on for this sort of waking up – the Divine Intelligence is re-shaping you! As we direct our
attention to stay focused on our intention, something else takes over. We’re honing our ability to
pay attention – something else is in control. You’re embracing the evolutionary impulse which is God.
With every insight we get to reflect out to the world this Cosmic Order!
As you’re waking up, you go from survival
to usefulness; from usefulness
to beauty, to art - to the
unfoldment of your Soul and, ultimately, society benefits each time a soul comes into his/her greatness.
You now see beauty in the midst of chaos and solution in the midst of confusion. Creativity is alive in those
circumstances, just waiting to burst forward!
The Issues of Your Life Provide the Perfect Platform for growth, insights and revelation!
You do not run away from the issues of your life – they are real to you. It will seem like you’re in a struggle with life,
however, you want to keep bringing yourself back to Truth Principle. You stay with the knowing that things are
temporal. You keep yourself inspired until you can download the solution – there is an answer.
There is a Power in you greater than circumstances!
You are building your consciousness – you are building your awareness of Truth – your awareness of Reality is getting
bigger. Through meditation you are incrementally building your consciousness of Reality.

In the beginning you don’t have enough experience with Reality to sustain your awareness,
but it begins to get stronger. Worry, doubt, and fear are thick, coagulated thought forms!

People connected to the Divine have more powerful thought forms than those who are sleepwalking. You are willing to wake up from the intoxicated sleep that humanity is in – there is a
“groan” of the world happening in the dream.
You’re using your life as a laboratory – there is an answer inside this particular circumstance – you’re owning your
new awareness.
Timeless Dimension
When you have an insight, you are out of time (past, present, future).
Knowledge is timeless – it is eternal.
As you sit to meditate, focus on the breath, now you’re ready for a timeless moment! Stay with the knowing that things
are temporal. Keep yourself inspired until you can download the solution – there is an answer. There is a Power in you
greater than circumstances! You are building your consciousness – you are building your awareness of Truth –

You are building an awareness of a Reality that the world does not give you.
“Insight is the precursor to your next
stage of evolution.”
--Michael Bernard Beckwith
With insight you become a vehicle to alleviate suffering.
An insight is a movement in which the timeless breaks into the physical – you
become less concerned about world issues.
With every insight your personal law changes – you are building a Consciousness of Truth!
When you know this
Truth you are in L.U.C.K. -- Living Under Cosmic Knowledge!
You are boundless! You are spacious! You are bodacious! You are abundant!
The Presence wants two things from you:
to be known and to be expressed
You can’t be in lack because God knows no lack! If God knows lack, then lack would be eternal.
In God there is a personal and impersonal aspect –
•
•
•
•
•
God does not know your little issues, your job, your conflicts, your dilemmas, etc.
God knows supply – when you know supply is there, it shows up!
You pray to have a realization of what God is always being.
We pray to come in tune with God – “It is done unto you as you believe” – Belief becomes the vehicle by which the
Law operates. You give direction to the vehicle by the intensity and frequency of the vibration of your belief.
You pray moving yourself out of the third dimension (the relative and comparative) into fourth dimension
knowing—the Absolute. There is no duality or relative nature in this dimension.
“Every challenge is an activation of a latent power.”

Enlightenment
It is not static; it is a continuous unfoldment of Spirit – other avenues
open up to us when we move out of the survival mode. The evolution of
our being and of our society and our humanity is what we’re going for.
Quantum Leap – energy builds up and then there is a leap – there is
no bridge from here to there.
Quantum Leap – without a ladder – you simply jump into another
dimension!
The Gregg Braden video shows a quantum leap happening as a tumor shrinks before the eyes of those chanting. The woman was
told that there was nothing else the Chinese medical profession could do for her. She went to a center that was interested in
treating terminally ill patients with prayer and chants. Their chant in Chinese simply stated -- “It is done!”
As you build faith, it becomes conviction – you are not changing Reality –
untouched by human reality.
you are seeing Reality! You’re on an adventure
Reflective Consciousness – you become more aware that you are not the content, not the shifting personalities, not the
temporary thing.
Rev Michael says: “Imagine a goose in a bottle – how do we get the goose out of the bottle?” The same way it got in —
imagine it out of the bottle. This is a classic Koan that challenges you to think beyond your logical mind. Your issues are your particular
Koan (koan, Japanese Kōan, in Zen Buddhism of Japan, a succinct paradoxical statement or question used as a meditation discipline for novices, particularly
in the Rinzai sect. The effort to “solve” a koan is intended to exhaust the analytic intellect and the egoistic will, readying the mind to entertain an appropriate
response on the intuitive level. Each such exercise constitutes both a communication of some aspect of Zen experience and a test of the novice’s
competence).

Phases of Growth
You’ll find yourself going through certain phases of growth.
At times you’ll hear yourself say:
•
I don’t want to do anything. I don’t want to sit in meditation for my entire life without the human experience.
But you will move from the desire to withdraw from life into the fullness of life with a regular meditative practice.
You discover who are and what you are. When you do, you want to share with humanity the gift of you with full-out living and
spiritual practice.
Observe yourself with the full intention to grow. It’s not religion or guilt you’re striving for, so don’t go there if you find
yourself in missteps along the way. It is a pure, earnest intention to want to develop meditation as a spiritual practice. Be patient
with yourself through the process. Observations of your habits, emotions, feelings, etc., will free you from them.
Ways of Practice through meditation

Develop your Practice; find what works best for you, and then experiment with other modes.
Different modes can integrate
insights for you. Journaling on a regular basis helps you to capture your insights and is part of the process.
•
Through journaling, you’ll see changes and growth from the years preceding. As you grow in consciousness through the
insights and revelations that come through meditation, you’ll find that you are not the same person.

•
In your journaling, you’ll discover insights as precious as any sacred text.
•
The essential nature of who you are has released the wisdom, and your intention has brought the insights
front and center to the conscious mind.
SPIRITUAL MEDITATION
As you change your PERCEPTION of yourself, you change your Reality! This mode of meditation is about having contact with the
DIVINE, the ETERNAL. You are sitting (with your INTENTION) to have a ”SPIRITUAL REALIZATION OF MY ONENESS WITH GOD.”
When you are in the Eternal, time stops, and that part of you that has never had a birth and never dies is
freely expressing. The Presence of God as you is laid bare. You are here to reveal that Presence according
to your unique pattern. In existential living, you bring forth the eternal nature of God into your place of
work and in all of your relations. You want moment by moment awareness that you are connected to the
Infinite and you have everything you will ever need. With this awareness, you enter into a state of nonattachment to outcomes.
Spiritual Meditation begins with the Intention to have a realization of your oneness with God. You’ll want
to master where you hold your attention. When it wanders, and it will, keep bringing your attention back to
your intention. You are a part of a vibration that is channeling this new dimension and wave of
Consciousness that is moving across our planet.

Listening is reverential alertness. You’re listening with conscious awareness. You’ll want to approach
your meditation as a child or baby approaches life: let each time be like a First Time – like a
beginner’s mind, coupled with wonder, awe, and discovery. Each time you’re fresh and available to the
Infinite, the Eternal. Start your meditation with these four character traits, then begin with your intention
to grow spiritually, and put your attention on the breath. In spiritual meditation you put your attention on
the feeling tone of your intention and anchor it.
You are establishing Spiritual Practices to Keep the Ego in Check.
Keeping the ego busy while the Holy Spirit does It’s work is important.
It is good to do a retreat after meditative practice.
Meditation Practice
o
Intention: Why you sit…
a) To have an encounter with the Divine Presence
b) To remember a moment, a feeling tone - it’s very important to connect
o
Deep Listening: As if someone is about to tell you something great! You are listenting with a reverential alertness. To
develop this type of alertness, practice listening to a friend—as you do this, you are more into listening rather than
analyzing what they are saying. Listening provides a healing field. Listen to the Spirit.
o
Observation: Observe yourself, your breath. Become the Witness, the Observer of what is going on, and not be
influenced by or succumbing to what you are observing. It may extend to emotions, body, room, noise, etc.
o
Fresh Approach Always have a fresh, new approach each time you sit to meditate. Go into your meditation as if it’s
your first time meditating. Be open and fresh as new fallen dew.

A Good strategy to fool the ego:
Say, “I’m gonna sit for just 30 seconds” if you’re feeling anxious about it.
Then as you reach the 30 second time, continue to for sit a little longer.
You keep doing this until you have developed a new habit.
Establish your own language. what resonates With Your intention ?
For Example:
Intention:
I want to know my self.
I want to evolve.
I want to be at one with God.
I want to wake up.
You might want to
contemplate . . . .
“I and my Father are One.”

You choose
what something means to you.
Choose your intention.
The Root of Intention – is always… To wake up to that which is Real !
Place your feet on the ground – anchor your awareness of the earth.
Attention goes towards you intention. Simultaneously embrace your intention. Be aware of distractions. Distractions,
noise, itching, etc. are there, but they do not distract you from your awareness of your intention. Things you can’t control for example, noise, emotions, body itches, etc. - you note that they are present, but they don’t distract you. You just become
aware of them.
As you establish your meditative practice, you will find that meditation will burn away anything that you are not—it will
burn away anxiety and allow your true self to reveal, uncover, and unlease its ture magnificence! Anxiety is future oriented.
Beauty and Love happen in the NOW.
It is essential to fall in Love with our human incarnation, in order to bring ETERNITY into Meditation.
1)
CONTEMPLATIVE – Finding a deeper meaning of the art or reading. It spiritualizes the intellect
2)
EXISTENTIAL – Asking questions about your existence—why are you here?
3)
SPIRITUAL – Full realization of your Oneness with God
Who AM I?
Where AM I? In order to find out who you are not, you must ask these questions.
−
Discover bursts of insights coming into your awareness!
−
This inquiry peels away everything you are NOT.

AND SO IT PROJECTS HINDERANCES as you set out to grow spiritually.
Barriers :
sleepiness, drowsiness
Rember MEDITATION: Is PAYING UNDISTRACTABLE ATTENTION to that which is REAL
PRAYER: Is about having an inner AWARENESS that
1) ALL IS WELL!
2) What is TRUE about you and the person or thing your’re praying for.
3) You pray to have an inner realization that what you are praying for is already done! You pray from this place of
the answer already existing, the solution already at hand. You know absolutely that it is so now! And so it IS!
Two COMMON Fundamentalist TEACHINGS to get beyond are:
•
•
DO NOT MAKE MISTAKES, or you will have to BE BORN AGAIN.
We’re WAITING TO GO TO HEAVEN—so your good is delayed.
In New Thought Ageless Wisdom Teachings we say The ANSWER IS At HAND: The Eternal is Now!

When someone’s image or name comes into your meditation, or you feel a person actually visited you, write the name of the person
down on a card, including your own.
CREATE A Special Prayer BOX.
Put the cards with the NAMES of those who came to you (i.e. your family, students) into your
special prayer box. Later, set time aside to PRAY FOR them.

If you have only enough time for one prayer, let it be for yourself!
UNCONDITIONAL LOVE is not something we DO, but something we become as we DISCOVER who WE really ARE AND EXPRESS
our gifts fully! Love is not a verb, it is a state of being.
The Importance of Moving Out of Time
In meditation you are making welcome the Grace of God. This Grace operates outside of our
dimension of time. As you go deep into meditation you’ll find that you have come out of the time
dimension. Every problem you have comes from the time dimension: a past time, a future time,
or the present time.

Every issue on the human level has to do with time—past, present, future. With a past oriented life, something haunts you
from the past, your fear the past; you may even deal with shame from a past act or action.
Future oriented people are dealing with ambition. Ambi means going in two directions at the same time, as in ambivalent.
If future oriented, you are worried and can’t find peace. In thinking about the future, you become anxious. Fear that “the
worst is coming” may occupy your thoughts.
Present oriented people are dealing with imagination. You are in the present moment, but thinking about where you want
to be in the future. When speaking with someone you are thinking about what you are going to say. You can’t wait for
them to stop talking. You are using your creative imagination to picture a certain outcome. You’re projecting your
thoughts on to what is currently happening and imagining something else taking place.
In meditation, you come out of the time dimension and ascend into Eternity. You are not thinking about the past, you are
not anticipating the future, or worried about it. The present moment is not even in your awareness. You are not trying to
project anything into the present. You enter Eternity. You are not even aware of time. In meditation you enter the Now of
Eternity. Everything is happening now. Simultaneous life is happening and when you step back from a singular focus and
broaden your perspective, you can see that. Look from larger and larger point of view (i.e. take a cosmic voyage.)
