KS5 Field Studies Modules at Attenborough Nature Centre
Welcome to Attenborough Nature Centre, an exciting new eco-friendly visitor
attraction surrounded by the tranquil waters of the beautiful Attenborough Nature
Reserve. The Centre houses The Willow Den, a well-equipped education area which
is an ideal field studies base for investigating a variety of freshwater and terrestrial
habitats.
Attenborough Nature Reserve is a designated Site of Scientific Interest due to the
importance of its over-wintering waterfowl population. The network of ditches, ponds,
reed beds, lakes and river offer a diverse field studies location close to the centre of
Nottingham. This close proximity to several large urban conurbations provides a
unique challenge in managing the area for biodiversity and people. The reserve also
boasts species-rich grasslands and woodland habitats. The nature reserve is
managed by The Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust in partnership with the site’s owners,
CEMEX Ltd., and Broxtowe Borough Council.
Our AS/A2 programme offers non-residential day courses to cover relevant aspects
of the Biology and Environmental Science specifications.
