WOMEN'S HEALTH RESOURCE CENTER PROGRAMS GREAT EXPECTATIONS – RESOURCES FOR MOTHERS ON BEDREST Doctors prescribe some degree of bedrest (sometimes an hour a day to complete bedrest with no bathroom privileges) when complications in pregnancy take place. Bedrest reduces normal daily activity and is believed to keep the uterus from contracting. It also relieves pressure on the cervix. Each year, nearly 700,000 U.S. women whose pregnancies run into trouble are told to quit work and stay off their feet. Have you had to modify your activities and your expectations during this pregnancy? We can provide you with information to help you cope with surviving bedrest. We will tailor resources that are specific to your needs and particular situation. We provide a childbirth class on DVD, phone consultations, a mobile library and on line resources. Call 603/650-2600 for more information or to set up your personal class or home visit today.
