Course Description/Objectives: ● In this class you will progress your proficiency levels in Spanish in 3 distinct modes of communication ○ Interpersonal: written and spoken communication ○ Interpretive: listening and reading ○ Presentational: speaking and writing, and making comparisons and connections to the products, practices and perspectives of other Cultures. Course Policies and Procedures: Academic Dishonesty ● Cheating of any kind including the overuse of an Internet translator is unacceptable. ● 1st Offense: Referral and you may have the opportunity to re-do the assignment and receive a maximum possible grade of 60% ● 2nd Offense: Referral and you will receive a zero for the assignment. ● Please see the WHS handbook for our school policy. Online translators are not your friend! Classroom Rules & Responsibilities 1. Be on time, on task, and prepared to learn everyday. 2. Use personal electronic devices for educational purposes only. 3. EOC and Final Exam ● End-of-Course Assessment: ○ We will have an EOC assessment at the end of the semester to measure growth in language proficiency. ○ EOC will count as a minor grade that ALL students will take at the end of the semester ● Final Exam ○ We will have a final, cumulative assessment in this class in addition to the EOC. ○ Final exam will count 20% of the semester grade. ○ Seniors with at least a 90 average will be able to exempt this exam.
