Day 1: Tuesday, April 11
Portland to Kailua-Kona, Hawaii
Today we travel by Experience Oregon motorcoach to the Portland International Airport for our flight to KailuaKona, Big Island of Hawaii. When we arrive we are greeted with a beautiful Hawaiian lei and then escorted on
a sightseeing tour of the Kona area. After a nice lunch, we'll stop at the City of Refuge, Hawaii's most sacred
place, royal grounds and place of refuge for ancient Hawaiian lawbreakers. Then we'll visit the elaborate St.
Benedict's Painted Church where early 1900s scenes were painted on the interior walls. Our tour ends at our
home for the next three nights, a comfortable beachside hotel located in the heart of Kauilua-Kona. Tonight,
our first night in paradise, we'll gather together for a welcoming "First Night" Dinner.

From sea level to the 10,000-foot mountaintop our tour
takes us up to the rim of Haleakala Crater. The views
inside the crater and out to sea are phenomenal. Moonlike in appearance, astronauts have trained in this crater
extensively. Be sure not to miss the rare Hawaiian
Silverswords that grow here. Next, descend into Iao
Valley into a peaceful rainforest where the Iao Needle
shoots up from the ground. Tropical plants, waterfalls, and
swimming holes accentuate this verdant wonderland. Our
final stop is the quaint town of Lahaina, an old whaling
seaport lined with restaurants, shops and galleries. There
Haleakala Crater
is plenty of time to shop and linger so wear comfortable
walking shoes today. This evening you might want to
enjoy the nightly Hawaiian music and hula show from 6:00 pm in our hotel's Tiki Courtyard. Feel free to pop in
and out or stay the entire evening and dance under the stars.

enjoy an exhilarating helicopter ride to Hana. Or simply relax on the golden sand beach, under a coconut
palm beside the outdoor pool or on your private balcony. This evening enjoy the nightly Hula Show in the Tiki
Courtyard and/or dine in a restaurant of your choice.

Day 7: Monday, April 17
Maui: day at leisure, evening luau
Today is our final day in "paradise" and has been kept schedule-free to allow
flexibility with your time. Our hotel offers many daily activities to choose from:
learn to dance the hula or play the ukelele, make a flower lei, Kukui nut
bracelet, or Lauhala weaving, peruse the local artisan's craft fair, tour the hotel's
Hawaii native garden, or learn to speak a few words in Hawaiian. Spend your
final day lying on the warm sandy beach, swimming in the ocean, relaxing
beside the pool or on your private deck. A marketplace loaded with shops,
boutiques and galleries is a very short walk away and might be just the thing for
a final day of souvenir and gift buying. Tonight the magical sights, sounds
and tastes of Polynesia surround us as we are dazzled at a traditional luau.
