Little League Divisions of Play
Junior Tee Ball 4: This program is players 4 years old who want to learn the fundamentals of hitting,
fielding, throwing and running the bases. In Tee Ball, players hit a ball off a tee. The primary goal of Tee
Balls is to have fun, instruct children in the fundamentals of baseball and to allow them the experience
of team work.
Tee Ball Baseball: This program is for players 5-7 years old who want to learn the fundamentals of
hitting, fielding, throwing and running the bases. In Tee Ball, players hit a ball off a tee and eventually
balls pitched by a coach. Rules of the game may be varied to accommodate the need for teaching. The
primary goal of Tee Balls is to have fun, instruct children in the fundamentals of baseball and to allow
them the experience of team work.
Minor League Baseball - Machine Pitch (6-7): This program is for players 6-7 years old. It is generally
designated for players with less experience. In Machine Pitch, the ball is hit from a pitching machine.
The rules of the game may vary to accommodate the need for teaching and the level of skill for that
group of current players. The goal of Machine Pitch is to prepare children for the eventual selection to a
Minor league Player Pitch Division Team. Children who are League Age 6 can request to play this
division only if they have at least 2 years of Tee Ball experience and demonstrate skills and abilities
necessary for this division of play.
Minor League Baseball - Machine Pitch (8-9): This program is for players 8-9 years old. It is generally
designated for players with less experience. In Machine Pitch, the ball is hit from a pitching machine.
The rules of the game may vary to accommodate the need for teaching and the level of skill for that
group of current players. The goal of Machine Pitch is to prepare children for the eventual selection to a
Minor league Player Pitch Division Team. Children who are League Age 9 will only be placed in this
division of they have no prior Tee Ball or Baseball experience and/or they do not demonstrate skills
necessary to be placed in upper divisions.
Minor league Baseball Player Pitch: This program is for players 8-11 years old. It is generally
designated for players that have played in Machine Pitch and have more experience playing the game.
In Player Pitch, the ball is hit from live pitching by the opposing team. The rules of the game follow the
traditional rules of baseball with the exceptions listed in the current Little League Playing Rules book.
The goal of Player Pitch is to prepare children for the eventual selection to a Major League Division
Team. Children who are League Age 8 will only be placed in this division if they have completed at least
1 year in the Machine Pitch and demonstrate skills and abilities necessary for this division of play. All
players must attend skills assessment to be placed in this division.
Little League Baseball or Major League Division: This program is for players 10-12 years old. This
program is designated for players with a higher skill level and more experience playing the game. The
rules of the game follow the traditional rules of baseball with the exceptions listed in the current Little
League Playing Rules book. This program may also enter Tournament Play in the Little League Baseball
Division, ending in a World Series Tournament.
