REBUILD CENTER/LANTERN LIGHT, INC.
We are deeply grateful to the Kiwanis Club, Good Shepherd Church, Donnie and her friends, and Linda King who fed
our guests this past week with such delicious hot lunches. Good Shepherd has committed to providing lunch two days a
month. We also had music this past week, which we all enjoyed so much. Now that the weather is getting so warm,
the guests are happy to have the new water fountains with good cold water. This past week the Irish Christian Brothers
celebrated the 250 anniversary of their founder Edmund Rice. Three brothers came to the center and prepared lunch–
hot dogs, dessert and lemonade. The Brothers had a great time and the guests enjoyed the hot lunch. What a great way
to celebrate. God bless you. Sr. Vera 273-5573x116

Living and Deceased.
Today is Corpus Christi, the feast of the Eucharist, a
celebration that dates back to the thirteenth century. In some
ways, every Sunday is a feast of the Eucharist. In the last century attention to Eucharistic devotions declined, while more
people received frequent Communion. Recent efforts to revitalize adoration of Jesus in the Eucharist through Perpetual
Adoration, Corpus Christi celebrations, and Eucharistic Congresses have brought us back into balance. At Mass, when we
receive Communion we are honoring and celebrating the precious gift of the Lord’s own Body and Blood. Communion is a
fulfillment of Christ’s promise to be always with us. And Jesus in the Eucharist always requires a response from us. At the
end of every Mass we are sent forth to love and serve the
Lord. He gives us his very self—the greatest gift of all—so
that we can go into the world and give in return.
CHARTER FOR THE PROTECTION OF CHILDREN AND YOUNG PEOPLE
In response to the Charter for the Protection of Children and Young People from the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, the Archdiocese of New
Orleans continues to make the Hot Line available for anyone who has been hurt or sexually abused by anyone who works for the Church. The Hot Line continues to be available; the number is (504) 522-5019. In continuing our commitment to support and to heal, we invite and encourage individuals who have been
hurt or sexually abused recently or in the past by clergy, religious or other employees of the Archdiocese to call our Hot Line. The Hot Line is available 24
hours a day and your message will be received confidentially by a trained mental health professional. In addition, anyone can make a direct call during regular
business hours to the Victims’ Assistance Coordinator at (504) 861-6253
