Walk 2 - Ye Olde Red Lion (Oakley Green) to Fifield Inn (Fifield)

Start
Ye Olde Red Lion, Oakley Green Road,
Oakley Green, SL4 4PZ
1- START
With Ye Olde Red Lion (now re-opened) behind you and facing Oakley Green Road, turn left for about
70 metres until you see a Public Footpath sign on the other side of the road pointing up a vehicular track
(this is not the Footpath directly opposite the pub). Follow the footpath sign up this short track.

Along the track on the left, opposite the houses, is another Footpath sign. Here follow the direction going
straight-on to the end of the track (another 25metres) and through a small gate into a field.

Turn left along the hedge for about 25 metres until you see another small gate in the hedge; go through
this and turn right to follow the hedge on the other side to a small bridge over a ditch.

Cross this new footbridge and cross the next field to a style. Here go diagonally straight-on across the
open field.

Shortly you will reach a ‘cross-road’s of footpaths in the middle of the fields. Take the path going left
towards Fifield.

At the next footpath sign you want to go straight-on but the better/drier path is signed along the edge of
the field by the hedgerow to the left and ends-up in the top left-hand corner of this field (where you will
end-up anyway if you go straight across the field). Along this field edge you will also see another 4-way
footpath sign but just keep going straight-on keeping the hedge on your left.

Now follow this footpath straight-on all the way across several fields and paddocks to emerge after about
a mile into Fifield Road.

Here turn left along the pavement until you reach the Fifield Inn on your right.
9 - RETURN
Retrace your steps, or exit the Fifield Inn to your right and at the road junction turn left along Oakley
Green Road and follow the pavement back to Ye Olde Red Lion (this gives you a circular walk).
