
Designed 10,650 ft. gravity flow system to transmit water
throughout the community of Fatima
Utilized InfoWater for computer-aided system modeling to
verify design feasibility
Travelled to Fatima, Honduras to learn about community
government and water needs and collected flow rate and
elevation data to improve system designs
Estimated labor needs, materials, relative risks, and critical
path for construction processes
Aug 2014 May 2015
Designed rock ramp spillway design to mitigate drowning
risks associated with Ogee spillway in Danville, Illinois
Optimized mean riprap diameter size to resist induced
motion caused by streamflow and analyzed tendency of
particle motion through calculation of critical shear stress
and particle Reynolds number
Scaled design with Froude number scaling, build scaled rock
ramp, and tested performance in open channel flume by
varying tail water depth and flow rates
Generated MATLAB design tool that calculates tendency of
particle motion and determines particle size necessary for a
given design flow rate
